HAGSAG: As things stand right now, I would say Jose Albertos, Javier Assad, Jesus Camargo, and Enrique de los Rios will very likely be the starters at Eugene when the NWL season begins, with Erling Moreno the other one if he doesn't go back to South Bend before NWL Opening Day, otherwise Manuel Rodriguez or one of the guys up from the DSL that are at EXST (Hector Garcia, Carlos Ocampo, Brailyn Marquez, Yunior Perez, or Faustino Carrera) as a place-holder until one of the Cubs 2017 June draft picks (TBA) is ready to go as a starter at Eugene.

And then M. Rodriguez, H. Garcia, Ocampo, Marquez, Y. Perez, and/or Carrera will be the starters for the AZL Cubs (not all six, but the AZL Cubs rotation will come from that group).

Andry Rondon, Junior Marte, and Nathan Sweeney have been moved to the bullpen, although any of them could be stretched-out as a starter at some point.

And 2016 draft picks Bailey Clark and Stephen Ridings (who are throwing "live" BP but not yet in Cactus League EXST games) could eventually be stretched-out to start at Eugene or AZL Cubs as well.

And as things stand right now, the Eugene Opening Day bullpen will likely be Mark Malave, Luis Aquino, Elvis Diaz, Andin Diaz, Holden Cammack, Jed Carter, Andry Rondon, Yapson Gomez, and Junior Marte.

Does anybody know why Dylan Cease is on the 7-Day-DL? Please tell me it has nothing to do with TJS

I don’t buy that. They had been doing that for years.

They did it with Matt Holliday. They did it with John Lackey. They did it with Mark Mulder. They did it with Jason Heyward, who had a great year for them. I’m sure there’s more but those come to mind immediately.

I attribute it more to a breakdown in what they’re doing in terms of development than a culture thing.

They won those trades and sacrificed their culture. That’s exactly their problem.

The other part that’s kind of crazy is they made two very high profile trades, one for Goldschmidt and one for Arenado, and they very clearly won those trades. They just haven’t been able to develop players the last handful of years the way they usually do.

I guess the moral there is it’s hard to stay on top of your game and be good at what you do in perpetuity.

Marmol was extended at the beginning of the year. Two years I believe.

Craig Counsell doesn’t have a timetable for Cody Bellinger who technically has two cracked ribs on his right side. CT scan showed it today.

Thought it might have been David Peralta given the open 40 man spot and how PCA has played so far.

I hope they keep Mozeliak a few more years. Marmol too!

wow, counsell coming with the early lineup.  rarity.

    PCA called up.

    welp...

    bellinger...fractured rib.

a not-very-ready PCA will probably be called up when it would be much better for him to be in AAA getting regular ABs.
