Hendricks looks to continue the success from his last two starts (a complete game shutout in SD and giving up 1 ER over 7 against WAS last Friday at Wrigley).
Hand kept PIT off the board for 5 innings on Saturday in his first start of the year. His other outings were all from the pen. He went 3-8 with a 4.38 ERA in 16 starts in 2014 after joining the rotation mid-season.
There isn’t a lot of history between the batters and the young pitchers. Only Lake (3-6) and Ross (0-4) have faced Hand. Gordon is 1-3 against Hendricks; Rojas is 0-1.
Update: Szczur up, Baxter down, Soler to get an MRI on his ankle tomorrow. A DL stint has not been ruled out.
If the comments are light during the game, it’s because Trans is making sweet potato soup for us in the Parachat. Remember that the better “hand” jokes will not include a reference to Antonio Alfonseca.
Go Cubs!
