Wada struggled in Washington, giving up 5 ER in 3.2 and taking the only loss in the series. He’s still looking for his first win of the year, after four times out. He has only one start against the Reds, his MLB debut last July, in which he gave up 1 run (unearned) through 5 in the 6-5 Cubbie loss. This group of Reds is 4-14 (.286) against him.
Lorenzen gave up 3 ER over 6 innings but didn’t factor in the 9-7 loss to the Padres over the weekend. This is his first year and ninth start in the majors--after joining the Reds at the end of April. None of the Cubs have faced him.
Hamilton (right wrist) and Phillips (left groin) are still working through minor injuries that have cost them some playing time in recent days. Cozart is out for the season after his gruesome knee injury, so the Reds are down a SS. I know where they can get one for cheap.
The Reds have won their last 4 games, including sweeping the Phillies in Cinci, if that counts. Since 2010, the Reds are 61-32 against us. But it’s a new day: this team has Mike Baxter on it.
Go Cubs!
