Minor League Rosters
Rule 5 Draft

Dodgers @ Cubs: Kershaw vs Hendricks (Game 172; NLCS Game 6)

Cubs 5, Dodgers 0
W: Hendricks (1-1); L: Kershaw (2-1)
Cubs defeat Dodgers 4-2; advance to World Series--hell yeah!PREVIEW
LAD (2-3): LHP Clayton Kershaw (2-0, 3.72)
CHC (3-2): RHP Kyle Hendricks (0-1, 3.00)
First pitch: 7:08pmCST

Hendricks lost his matchup against Kershaw in Game Two of the NLCS (5.1 IP, 1 ER, 5 K, 4).  He went 9-2 with a 1.32 at Wrigley during the season, including a June 2 game against the Dodgers when he went 8 innings and gave up 2 ERs. Overall, they are 8-41 (.195) against him. Turner is 2-7. Gonzalez has a HR in 5 ABs in the regular season. He also had a second-inning HR in Game Two.

Kershaw won Game Two of the NLCS, going 7 scoreless after his save of Game Five of the NLDS against the Nationals. In Game Two, Baez and Contreras had hits against him, and Rizzo had a walk--and that was it. For their careers, the Cubs are 32-133 (.241) against him. Bryant is 1-5 and Rizzo is 3-11, both with HRs. Fowler is the stud (18-44, .409).

Game Seven would be Hill versus Arrieta. There will be no Game Seven.

Go Cubs!

LEAVE NO DOUBT! KNOCK KERSHAW OUT! YA MAKE ME WANNA SCREAM AND SHOUT!

Schwarber potentially on WS roster legit? I still would be surprised if it actually happens, but I would love to see him on it. I assume that he would replace Coughlan or Rob Z (if Cubs decide to go back down to 11 pitchers, which wouldn't be surprising considering that Rob Z hasn't pitched in this series). But this doesn't matter yet. 1 more win against the Dodgers is still needed. While I wouldn't be surprised if Heyward starts tonight, but Almora is still great defensively and is right handed. Heyward vs Kershaw is pretty much a free out for Kershaw. Other than that, I expect the same or very similar lineup to game 4 against Urias. I would put Russell in the 7th spot though since he's hot and to avoid any intentional walk to face Hendricks. If it were me, I would put this lineup on the field tonight: Fowler-CF Bryant-3B Rizzo-1B Zobrist-LF Baez-2B Contreas-C Russell-SS Almora Jr-RF Hendricks-P All we need is 1-2 runs off Kershaw and a locked in Hendricks tonight. Any sort of jam, and Joe can pull him for a LHP to neutralize the Dodger lineup. I'm predicting Cubs 2, Dodgers 1. Both Cubs runs on a KB homer. He's due for one. For the Dodgers run, I'm predicting a Gonzalez RBI single, but he gets called out via replay trying to advance to 2nd on the throw to the plate to end the inning, lol. #FlyTheW

Also, if Pedro Baez pitches tonight, can he please be ejected for taking too long to pitch? Watching him pitch makes staying awake difficult. Maybe they can actually enforce the rule where you have to throw within 12 seconds (it's something like that I believe) when Baez is on the mound.

Anyone else using a Windows machine having an issue getting the site to load? The site administrator might have to clear the varnish cache and restart the service. It works fine from other operating systems like android and IOS 10.

This game should, barring the unforeseen (which of course can't be barred) be subject to a Game and Parachat Recap.

So I correctly predicted that Almora would be in the lineup tonight and correctly predicted the exact order, players, and positions. Hopefully I will be right about predicting a Cubs win tonight. One of my friends said prior to game 4 that the Cubs would light up Urias and they did, he said the same thing about Kershaw tonight. Hopefully he's right. Go Cubs Go! #FlyTheW

Really looking forward to checking out Cub catching prospect Victor Caratini's at-bats for the Mesa Solar Sox tonight. Hitting seventh and playing first tonight. Also some dude named Schwarber DHing batting 2nd.

    Hi Arizona Phil!

Exciting to see Naz Mule in box scores a few times. What's his stuff like now after the TJS?

    Mastrobuoni can't come back, yet

Wisdom does have an option left. He can hide in Iowa if Jed DFA's someone else

Does Brennan Davis get shown the door? I know it's too early for that, but these injuries are crunching the roster of a 12-7 team playoff demands and BDavis isn't going to help anytime soon.

Someone has to go to add Peralta. And Canario isn't going to get to play everyday regardless of RHers or LHers. Neither is Tauchman. Also don't see PCA getting a chance over Peralta.

    If Jed does those moves:

4 OF: Belli, Peralta, Canny, Tauch

    2 C: Gomes and Amaya

    2 DH: Cooper and Mervis

5 INF: Busch, Nico, Dansby, Morel, Madrigal

Little short on OF depth but two injuries will do that

I have had the pleasure of watching some of the young A's pitchers lately (first Joe Boyle the last day of Minor League Spring Training in March, and more recently Luis Morales last week and Steven Echavarria yesterday at Extended Spring Training), and it reminds me of the Miami Marlins a couple of years ago. A really nice collection of young pitchers. It will be interesting to see what the A's will get for two years of ex-Cub Paul Blackburn at the Trade Deadline (there should be a robust market for Blackburn).

    Good deal

    MB needs some talent infusion!

    Childersb3: Very possible. Suriel, too.

DJL: if a pitcher is recalled to be the 27th man for a doubleheader and then is optioned back to the minors the next day, the 15-day "clock" does NOT reset. The one day call-up for the doubleheader is treated like it never happened with respect to a pitcher having to spend at least 15 days on optional assignment before he can be recalled.

Probably the only reason David Peralta is still in the organization (he is at AAA Iowa) is to be available in case anything bad were to happen to Ian Happ (which it just did). So if Happ needs to go on the IL, the Cubs can select Peralta to play LF, DFA Wisdom (and hope he and what remains of his $2.725M salary gets claimed off waivers), and recall Mervis to platoon at DH with Cooper (with Canario / Tauchman sharing RF), at least until Suzuki and Happ are back...

i'd just like to take a moment to express to the world i'm still pissed willson contreras is not a cub when the pricetag was 5/87m (17.5m/yr).

it would be nice to have a legacy-type player to stick around, especially one with his leadership and the respect he gets from his peers.  cubs fans deserved more than 1 season of contreras + morel...that was gold.

happ, right hamstring tightness, day-to-day (hopefully 0 days).

    he will be reevaluated tomorrow.

I guess I'm not looking for that type of AB

    Just a difference of opinion
