From Baseball America's Hot Sheet chat:

Dan (Israel): What should we know about Arismandy Alcantara who had a monster offensive week at SS in the FSL?

Matthew Eddy: Cubs 20-year-old Arismendy Alcantara possesses some loud tools — he can field, throw and run — and the shortstop reminded us this week that he also has potential with the bat, going 12-for-29 with two doubles and three triples for High-A Daytona. He very nearly made the Hot Sheet in the Helium section. If the offensive gains are real, then he's a prospect. Even if they're not he might make a fine utility player or quality system depth.

Marmol possibly going to DL, probably could use a bullpen arm for tomorrow since it's a 10am game.

wonder if Scott Maine can make it in time?

Noon game here in God's country, Mr. Hollywood.

Axford leaves note for media after game. He is awesome.

More and more lately it's been bugging me when pro athletes making big bucks have kids in the middle of the season. Hell, in this case, Ax must've knocked her up in the middle of last season, too.

I don't watch NBA, but I just heard Chris Bosh is flying back and forth across the country in the middle of the playoffs because his wife had their child. Considering the circumstances, I have no problem with the way he handled the situation (being there for his wife as well as not missing a game), but why would these guys put themselves in that situation in the first place?

Baseball's not a tough sport to work around the season. Get her pregnant right before you leave for spring training, and she'll be delivering the baby right after the World Series.

**Get her pregnant right before you leave for spring training, and she'll be delivering the baby right after the World Series.**

Yup- because it is that simple. *rolls eyes*

*tongue in cheek*
---
she won't get pregnant that way

Oh priorities, where have they gone?

chicken and beer > golf

Easier on the lat muscles too. Unless they were playing Edward 40 hands and eating turkey legs.

Coleman up, Marmol to DL. Might not be here for todays game. Lineup in the twitter box.

Cubs go up 1-0. hope Volstad isn't counting on more.

Leadoff double for Morgan. Maybe they should start Camp in the first inning and have Volstad come in for the 2nd.

Braun gets HBP which I never mind, but pretty sure a Cub is gonna get hit soon.

And Soriano immediately nailed. Could have done the Cubs the favor of hurting him :)

yes, please elect soriano to take out your frustrations for your teammates hbp

How come no one runs at runner anymore during run down?

Sori can jump on that golf cart with Wood into the sun set

2 starts in a row moving volstad's start up didn't help...2 extra days off afterwards for this start really really didn't help.

also, boo grand slams.

"Mets placed 3B Bobby Scales on the temporary inactive list."

someone's about to go back to japan.

  • Thank you PHIL.

Glad you avoided temps in the 100s.

I remember you mentioning Dewees needng plenty of work in th IF. How are his OF instincts?

Also, did see much of Satchel McElroy? Only Satchel I have heard about other than the "orignal" and one of Woody Allen's kids.

  • Hate to give the Mets credit, but they did everything right tonight in what had to be a very tough game for them to play. As Hollandsworth said on the Cubs post-game -- if you watched the game, you saw Mets players consoling Marlins players who were in tears during the game. Between that and the way Molina handled the Ross farewell -- maybe the Mets and Cardinal players aren't pure evil. Just the fans.

  • Cubs get 100, KB gets 100, Hendricks gets below 2.00, Cards get absolutely destroyed by the Reds -- all good, other than some Rondon concern. Hopefully, he can get a few outings in this week and find his groove. Also, I guess Soler is still struggling with his right side. Hmmmm. Too bad Joe didn't let Addy bat with the bases loaded in the 7th -- great RBI opportunity.

I assume all the relievers are on a set schedule this week, but it seems strange Chapman pitched back-to-back.

  • Barry Rozner article interviewing Greg Maddux (with comments on Kyle Hendricks).

    http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20160925/sports...

"I like watching him pitch," Maddux said of Hendricks. "I like guys that rely on movement and location. I can relate to him. That's what I had to do. "I'd rather watch him pitch than some lefty throwing 95 mph."

  • in case it hasn't been mentioned yet, Twins are hiring Indians 32-year old Derick Falvey from the Cleveland Native Americans organization.

Suppose McLeod could still be asked by another organization but likely staying put.
