Game 63 Threa...Dear God, 100 More Games of This Sh**?!?!?!
The Cubs go for the series win behind Travis Wood. The Tigers counter with Justin Verlander. Over/under on Verlander K's at 11. Over/under on hits for the Cubs is 2. Take the over on the K's and under on the hits. Hell, perfect game #23 doesn't sound too unreasonable.
| Tigers | Cubs |
| Jackson, CF |
*Campana, CF |
| *Boesch, RF |
Castro, SS |
| Cabrera, 3B |
*DeJesus, RF |
| *Fielder, 1B |
Soriano, LF |
| Young, LF |
*LaHair, 1B |
| Peralta, SS |
*Clevenger, C |
| Raburn, 2B |
Barney, 2B |
| Laird, C |
*Valbuena, 3B |
| Verlander, P |
Wood, P |
In roster manuevering, Koyie Hill was DFA'd to make room for Luis Valbuena on the 40-man, who was called up to take the place of Ian Stewart who went on the disabled list to rest up his ailing wrist. And Welington Castillo was activated as well and should certainly see his share of starts before Geovany Soto is ready, which should also be rather soon.

Actually Brenly mentioned yesterday that Campana should be bunting every time up with Cabrera at third. Makes sense to me, why doesn't Sveum tell him to do it?

depends where Cabrera is setting up, but at the very least, he should be making a very concerted effort to hit it to the that side of the infield as much as possible.
Bunting Verlander is no easy task though.

has had the best AB's of anyone today...and some of the worst baserunning. Although with 2 outs and top of order due up, that would be the time to try and stretch it, but not even close.

Peoria is 10-2 in June and has climbed back up to .500 at 33-33.
Tennessee is 10-3 this month and is within a game of .500.
Daytona is 5 under, while (underachieving?) Iowa is 9 under.

appears 4th(Conway), 7th (Steve Bruno), 8th(Michael Heesch), 9th(Chadd Krist) round picks have signed and rumors say P. Johnson (1S pick), McNeil (3rd round) and Prieto (5th round) have also signed. Padilla says 6 lower round selections are set to sign as well (that may include the anyone below Round 5 as he was talking about Conway signing).

looks like he's got Prieto's number off, but here's some numbers
http://www.chicagonow.com/cubs-den/2012/06/cu...
(paid vs. slot)
Conway $280K vs $343K
Prieto $200K vs $257K
Bruno $150K vs. $148.6K
Heesch $10K vs. $138.8K
Krist $10K vs. $119.6K
about $350K in bonus pool money saved ($7,933,900 is the magic number).
P. Johnson (allegedly around slot)
says 10th round pick Chad Martin has also signed, value unknown

That is why we drafted them in the 8th and 9th round. The salary cap discrepancy between the first 10 rounds and after 10 makes this important. Any player from 11-40 can be signed for up to $100k without affecting the cap, but anything less doesn't save money. For players in the first 10 rounds, this savings for Heesch and Krist can be used to sign other players (including players 11-40 by giving them over $100k).
