An Argument in Support of Signing Jim Edmonds: It's Driving Cardinals Fans Crazy
Submitted by Cubnut on Wed, 05/14/2008 - 11:24pm.
From Bernie Miklasz, writing in Thursday's St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
The idea of the greatest center fielder in Cardinals history stumbling in wobbly pursuit of balls hit over his head is depressing. The reality that Jimmy will be teammates with Carlos Zambrano — who plunked him twice in a raucous game at Wrigley back in 2004 — makes no sense...
"He feels like he has something left to give this game," Cardinals outfielder Skip Schumaker said. "I'm happy for him. I still think he can play. I don't think he was ready to hang it up yet."
And then Schumaker said something that stings:

Marcus Hatley retired the first 11 men he faced, Mark Pawelek threw 2.1 innings of shutout ball, and Dwayne Kemp belted his team-leading third home run, but the EXST A's rallied to defeat the EXST Cubs 7-5 in Extended Spring Training action at Fitch Park Field #3 this morning in Mesa.
Guest Pitchers Aboard for Hoffpauired Win Streak
Submitted by Mike Wellman on Wed, 05/14/2008 - 8:30am.
Micah Hoffpauir was activated a week ago and the Iowa Cubs haven't lost since. In the last two games alone he's driven in more runs than the pesky redhead has in 23. Yesterday he manned a post in right-field, possibly as a Plan B in the event of a failed Jim Edmonds experiment.
Meanwhile Kevin Hart was 'stretched out' from 67 pitches in his previous start all the way to 68 yesterday; from 3.2 innings all the way to four.
