There's five spelling errors, three usages errors and three punctuation errors in that 'sentence'. Also, no one has made an allegation that he was retarded, so there's also what I think is properly known as a 'crackhead' error.

Yeah it has gone to shit lately. Once an at-bat finishes it won't show it on the play by play. I have to toggle to a different inning and then back and then it shows up. Seems like issues that should be ironed this long into its existence.

He probably didn't have a shot to get him, so he should have just thrown to second. But he tried to do his patented scoop and throw and just never got his shoulder turned, so the ball sailed up the third base line and high, into the stands.

Hard to believe htey will play again tonight...the storms that just rolled through here (I live in Lincoln Park)were amazing -- 60+ mph winds, tons of lighting and about an inch of rain.

rain delay #2, they got the tarp on due to lightning/thunder that had Berkman running off the field with the camera on Johnson pointing at Berkman while talking to DLee after Berkman jumped; quite the crashing thunder/light show before the rain actually restarted.

Well, Manny in Dodger Blue doesn't help the Dodgers much, since they are now benching Ethier in favor of Pierre. I remember when Torre turned down the big contract extension from the Yankees and everyone was saying what a great manager he was. I don't know if he's any better than Dusty. There's certain a lot of evidence to point to the fact that he's not.

Haven't heard from Manny since I've been back. I think he doesn't like it when the Cubs are winning. The Cubs got shut-out last night, because of that crappy team that Hendry put together. Starting Dempster in a game that we clearly needed to win, can't be Lou's fault, because he can only play the pitchers he's given to work with. Plus, how did we not add a left handed bullpen presence, or a replacement for Marmol in the 7th/8th at the deadline? A good GM would have done that.

Hardly ever post but come to the site because I enjoy the comments (well, except for the Bizarro-world banter in this thread). Anyway, I remember reading a while back that Manny hasn't posted because he just wants to sit back and enjoy the season. I'm paraphrasing but that's the jist of it.

Fell asleep before I could watch Fat Lance run off the field...too bad.

In all seriousness. You have to wonder if all the inept roster construction of the past was Hendry or McFails doing? Cubs have/will win 2 consecutive Central Titles as soon as McFail and his penny pinching ways were shown the door. Did he restrict the spending. Did tribco? Could 05 and 06 have really been as good as 07/08 have been? So many questions? really?......?

Or... could the struggles in '05 and '06 been, in large part, due to an over reliance on two starting pitchers who couldn't stay healthy? Add to that Lee's injury in '06.

I think it was a combination of relying on unhealthy pitchers, fluke injuries (Lee), taking risks that didn't pan out (Nomar), bad managing, Neifi Perez, and Michael Barrett.

Valid points on all fronts.

However there seems to be an all around better sense of urgency to repair holes that need repaired. No longer do I worry that if any starter gets hurt. It opens up an everyday spot for a Neifi Perez.

Never EVER during the McFail regime did we go out and target front line free agents of any kind. The free agents we targeted were always either the 3rd tier. Jack Jones, Todd Walker, Julian Tavarez, Shane Andrews, Willie Greene type guys. Or injury rehab projects like Wade Miller, Shawn Estes and Mike Sirotka.

In Two years out from under the McFail watch and we have signed Soriano,Ted Lilly,Kfuk, and Ponied up for Aram after stupidly letting him go to Free Agency.

Now Baltimore seems to be stuck in the paralysis by analysis mode that always hampered the cubs.

All of this leads me to believe that AZ Phil was on to something. Maybe McFail really was the main culprit in the Cubbie struggles of the last Decade.

Agreed, it appears McFail and his desire to compete for the wild card were a major factor in the Cubs trying to win on the cheap.
