Good use of keyword 'naked'. I was done here, went looking for my daily fill of russian spies, and somehow ended up back at TCR. Thought my computer was broken...

Thanks. Last time I checked the toteboard, we were up to 589.

Outstanding. Thanks for the follows.

Today, I consider myself...the luckiest man...on the face of the earth.

Now you should commission a painting of yourself as a centaur.

Doing a mermaid version of ARod.

What the hell is Twitter?

It's a popular brand of fruit-flavored candy in the United States and Canada (often called a licorice candy).

Dude, you're old.

it's a bar in the bahamas that lets 16 year old kids drink.

It's a game with colored circles on a plastic mat that generally leads to intercourse.

The chances of intercourse are doubled if played in the bar by the same name that crunch frequents.

But only if Soriano doesn't bat leadoff.

soriano would be handing out bone cookies and blood juice at my church...no leading people to seats for him.

And the manager of the bar has no effect on these chances...

unless the manager takes your glass away or you run out of money the manager of the bar pretty much has no effect anyway.

we also don't pay him $4m bucks at my bar to take your glass away you piece of shit.

Miles has a big post up on Zambrano's ESPN interview and how he pissed everyone off again:

http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/4435

Maybe I'm not reading it correctly, but Z seems to be getting ripped, in part, for not talking in Iowa but then it says he was told not to talk at that time. (I read that elsewhere, too, either in the Trib or Sun-Times.)

So then he talks and is now getting ripped for that and for bypassing the media relations department that told him not to talk?

imo, i'm seeing a lot of chicago media acting like NY media...aka, OMFG CAN YOU BELIEVE DIZ GUY, GUY? HE NEEDS TO _________ (insert overblown manly statement of authority)! WHAT A PIECE OF WORK!

NY Post must be seeking new writers.

F that, Z is the new Bradley as far as I'm concerned.

Crazy is the new black.

Tito -- I'm having the same confusion as you. I just watched the interview Z did on ESPN and I didn't see anything in it that would piss people off.

I like Bruce Miles, but I don't know what he's talking about when he says that Zambrano's interview with Muskat was damage control for his interview with ESPN. I'm just not seeing it.

http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?...

I think the problem is that the team told him not to talk to the media until he apologized to the team, and then without their permission Z went on ESPN.

I think Bruce is upset because Z seemingly used the team's order as an excuse to ignore the Chicago media, many of whom traveled to Iowa to cover Z's rehab, but was perfectly happy to ignore the team's edict when ESPN called.

Seems a lot of pettiness all around to me. But also seems like Z should have just done what the team told him.

They should re-name Wrigley Field "Pettiness Junction".

Then get some hot chicks to skinny dip in CF.

In case there was any doubt, Carlos Zambrano is available.

http://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/1968905...

this team's clubhouse leadership has been fucking pathetic for too long.

we shouldn't have to trade 1-2 players a season because they "can't hang."

it just doesn't end. it's always something.

I agree, which points the finger at the front office for always pointing the finger at a different player or players every year as the reason we can't win.

They're just making things worse for everyone by ripping Z for apologizing. I'm really sick of how this entire thing has been handled. Z was an idiot, but the Cubs front office and the media have been bigger idiots.

To start with, putting an $18 million dollar starting pitcher in the bullpen after 4 starts was about the dumbest possible thing Hendry and Lou could do this season. Then Hendry completely mis-manages the Z blowup, banishing their highest paid pitcher to Siberia for a month in the middle of the season, when the team keeps claiming their trying to get back in the pennant race. Now they're mad he apologized at the wrong time, to the wrong person. This is just another reason Hendry should be fired.

This daily drama crap has got to go. We're not the dysfunctional White Sox.

Bruce Levine says Colorado, San Diego, and Detroit continue to show interest in Theriot with the Rockies being the most interested.http://es.pn/auw3xN

And in an unsurprising development, according to Witternmyer in Tuesday's S-T, Aramis Ramirez "expects to exercise his $14.6 million player option for next season." http://bit.ly/bmhe0R

Lot of money for what you get.

Well next season, as long as he stays healthy, I would expect ARam to have a monster year as he plays for a new contract. The trick is finding a way to keep him healthy (then hopefully dealing him at the trade deadline).

I love the guy but his injury problems scare the hell out of me to offer him a long term contract.

it's nice he can still field his position and throw well, too.

nice to have him at 3rd rather than expecting him to move to 1st or something.

It's back to 599. Odd.

It goes up and down as people unfollow us. Perhaps they were offended by the lameness of a particular tweet or they're just jerky White Sox or Cardinals fans trying to ruin the best day of TCR's Twitter life.

Bastards.

hell of a late-night news flash.

  • Seems like a bizarre pick -- they moved up 2 spots to pick up a guy who was not dominant in college. According to the talking heads, supposedly a great athlete (but an unpolished football player). So was Alonzo Spellman. And the guy who could jump out of a pool. Bears have missed the playoffs 5 straight years and 8 of the last 9. And they made Marc Trestman an NFL head coach. Maybe they can hire Theo in his free time. Sheesh.

  • And then the Bears pick an undersized linebacker with very few sacks in his college career and very little ability to shed blocks and the draft becomes less of a joy.

  • Watching the NFL Draft on ESPN with the mute on is one of the greatest joys in my small life. Being able to not hear Roger Goodell, Chris Berman, Jon Gruden, and Mel Kiper in quick order is just somehow immensely satisfying. I hope by the time the Bears pick they have Steven AAAAAAAAAAAAA Smith and Skip Bayless on so I can not hear them too.

  • even if the cubs lose feder, he's easily replaceable with a cash/low-end-ptbnl trade...plus, taylor davis is wasting time down in AA and he could pop up to AAA to back up w.conteras.

  • Tim Federowicz is out of minor league options, so Outright Assignment Waivers would be needed before he can be sent back to Iowa. He also has the right to elect free-agency if outrighted, but he probably wouldn't elect to be a FA if outrighted unless the Cubs shit on him somehow while he's up with the big club (not likely).

But it is possible that another MLB club could claim Federowicz if the Cubs place him on waivers, which would leave Willson Contreras as pretty much the only other option if a catcher goes on the DL again later in the season.

  • CRAIG: D. J. Wilson is hitting 083/115/167 in six Cactus League EXST games (26 PA), but his K-rate is only 11.5% and he has somehow managed to drive-in five runs along the way (he's tied for second on the team in RBI), so it's not like he's swinging & missing a lot. He does seem to be feeling for the ball a bit, however, which has resulted in too much weak contact and not enough line drives.

  • Bryant sprained ankle MRI tomorrow

  • Cubs did a lot of that today: 2-for-17 with RISP.

Man, what an ugly baseball game - Cubs receive 11 walks and Bryant reached twice by HBP, the Brewers pitchers threw almost 200 pitches (199 pitches...in 8 innings!), they even walked Baez (first one of the year), Cubs scored twice when Brewers botched routine DP balls, Cahill walks three guys with a 6-run lead, forcing Maddon to waste Strop, the weather sucked again, etc. Happy with the win, but that was really tough to watch.

  • "Some of the most racist things I've ever heard have come out of people that are on the air at ESPN," Schilling said Wednesday on "Breitbart News Patriot Forum." He was fired by ESPN last week.

“In the end for me it felt like that rule applied to me and me alone because I was conservative … Bigots are calling me a bigot. A bigot is someone who refuses to accept a different opinion. I will accept anyone’s opinion.”

  • Rolled scoring on Rizzo double

  • Re ZOBRIST -

Today's game is what I was referring to re Zobrist and RISP struggles. He did come through with his patented single to drive in a run - but also left the bases loaded, and two men on, no outs (called 3rd).

So, I hope he can pick that part of his game up when they start playing the better teams...
