I figure there are a number of you who have this same "my dad was a Cub fan, taught me everything I know..." story. One day, probably still a long time from now, we'll be able to write a different joke without the sarcasm.

SONIC: Because the Astros compensation pick for failing to sign Brady Aiken is pick #2 in the 1st round of the 2015 Rule 4 Draft, the 11th pick in the 2015 draft is a protected pick. The rule was changed this year.
Previously, only the top 10 picks in the draft (including compensation picks) were protected.
Cubs are a win away from dropping of my .450 win percentage cutoff for the draft pick standings chart in the left sidebar.
As it stands, they have 7th worst record at moment, 8th pick. Getting close to losing a protected pick, which almost certainly take them out of Scherzer or Shields. Although I'd bet Denis Leary's other nut that Scherzer goes to Yankees.
