From Baseball America's Hot Sheet chat:
Dan (Israel): What should we know about Arismandy Alcantara who had a monster offensive week at SS in the FSL?
Matthew Eddy: Cubs 20-year-old Arismendy Alcantara possesses some loud tools — he can field, throw and run — and the shortstop reminded us this week that he also has potential with the bat, going 12-for-29 with two doubles and three triples for High-A Daytona. He very nearly made the Hot Sheet in the Helium section. If the offensive gains are real, then he's a prospect. Even if they're not he might make a fine utility player or quality system depth.

Marmol possibly going to DL, probably could use a bullpen arm for tomorrow since it's a 10am game.

More and more lately it's been bugging me when pro athletes making big bucks have kids in the middle of the season. Hell, in this case, Ax must've knocked her up in the middle of last season, too.
I don't watch NBA, but I just heard Chris Bosh is flying back and forth across the country in the middle of the playoffs because his wife had their child. Considering the circumstances, I have no problem with the way he handled the situation (being there for his wife as well as not missing a game), but why would these guys put themselves in that situation in the first place?
Baseball's not a tough sport to work around the season. Get her pregnant right before you leave for spring training, and she'll be delivering the baby right after the World Series.

Easier on the lat muscles too. Unless they were playing Edward 40 hands and eating turkey legs.

Cubs go up 1-0. hope Volstad isn't counting on more.

Leadoff double for Morgan. Maybe they should start Camp in the first inning and have Volstad come in for the 2nd.

2 starts in a row moving volstad's start up didn't help...2 extra days off afterwards for this start really really didn't help.
also, boo grand slams.
