Man. Getting kinda antsy for some trading to happen as I watch this team of dead men walking (or striking out or whatever). I know. Patience, right? Yeah, we all have a little practice at that. Oh well, I get a little ranty, I make a cartoon. Can't wait to make some happy ones in the future.

I think Theo and Jed will come to a conclusion by the end Spring Training on how likely they think the team is to contend...at one end of the spectrum if they get two TOR pitchers over the winter then they will go the rest of the way "all in" for next year and Bryant is with the Cubs from day one and burns a year of control...if they strike out over the winter and wind up with EJax-Arietta-Hendricks-Turner-Wood as the starting rotation then Bryant goes down long enough to delay his clock.
Maybe the $6.7 million signing bonus should have been your first clue it is a business. I try not to begrudge any player trying to maximize their earnings but please don't publicly gripe or feign ignorance about the consequences of trying to earn your extra millions.
Screw Bryant- Any Boras client whining about the business of baseball is the height of irony. The Cubs have proved (failed Samardzija extension) that they aren't interested in getting raped by agents looking to fleece the organization. Good. Keep playing hardball.
