2012 Trade Deadline Free-for-All

3:16 PM: Nevermind, looks like 3B Christian Villanueva and RHP Kyle Hendricks. Villanueva was #100 on BA's top 100 prospects in baseball list before the season. He was #7 on Goldstein's top 11 list:

Year in Review: After impressing last year in the complex leagues, Villanueva was a Sally League All-Star in his full-season debut.
The Good
: Villanueva has outstanding bat speed and impressive power for his size, projecting to hit for average with 15-20home runs annually. He's an impressive athlete with average to slightly-above-average speed; he has improved his defense at third base, and has good hands with a strong arm.
The Bad
: Other than the bat, Villanueva is not exceptionally toolsy. His approach could use improvement. He's filling out and getting stocky, and will likely lose some of his speed down the road.
: Villanueva was used in six different spots of the Hickory batting order in 2011, but had the most success in the six-hole, hitting .357/.410/.629 in 20 games.
Perfect World Projection
: Above-average third baseman.
Fantasy Impact:
A good batting average with some power and more speed than your average third baseman.
Path to the Big Leagues
: Villanueva is buried in Texas at the hot corner, and the Rangers have experimented with him at other positions. He'll begin the 2012 season at High-A Myrtle Beach.
: 2015

Not finding much on Hendricks.

3:14 PM: Heh, on that note, one dude is hearing that it's Odor and Roman Mendez. Don't take that too seriously yet.

3:12 PM: Pure speculation on my part, but Rougned Odor (that's a terribly unfortunate name) is a Class A position player in that top 20 list.

3:06 PM: Rosenthal says a Class A pitcher and a Class A position player are headed to the Cubs.

3:03 PM: Here's a Rangers top 20 prospect list to start speculating upon. It won't be Profar or Olt.

3:00 PM: And fin. I'll try and get the prospects for Dempster up before I take off here.

2:58 PM: Scott Miller of CBS saying Rangers as well for Dempster...and so is Buster Olney.

2:57 PM: Whomever Ken Gurnick is, he's dropping the Rangers as the destination for Dempster. I believe he's the Dodgers beat writer for mlb.com

2:50 PM: Bowden saying Yanks "may have" acquired Dempster.

2:49 PM: Dodgers beat writer for the L.A. Times Dylan Hernandez says Dodgers are out on Dempster and they're done making deals today.

2:41 PM: The NL Central has been busy, Pirates get Gaby Sanchez and Travis Snider (that happened last night). Cardinals get reliever Ed Mujica and Reds get Jonathon Broxton.

2:15 PM: Nightengale saying that Soriano likely staying put, but of course he'll easily clear waivers, so an August deal is always possible.

2:06 PM: Kaplan says Tigers and Cubs are hard at work trying to complete a deal for Soriano.

2:03 PM: Dempster has allegedly said he'd waive his NTC for the Yankees, Rangers and Dodgers.

1:25 PM: Heyman tweet claim Dempster has already told Cubs he'd agree to a trade with Yankees...sure. Rothschild and Hendry are over there, so it does make some sense.

1:09 PM: Some Dempster to the Yankees or Diamondbacks rumors floating.

12:33 PM: Olney saying that Diamondbacks are working on something big and then teases a Justin Upton for Matt Garza deal as making sense. Of course the Cubs are on Justin Upton's no-trade list.

12:20 PM: The actual deal with the Texas Rangers for Geovany Soto is Soto and cash to the Rangers for Brigham and either a player to be named later or cash considerations heading to the Cubs.

12:18 PM: Another Goldstein tweet saying the Cubs really want to get Allan Webster out of the Dodgers and are trying to include parts to make that happen.

11:51 AM: By the way, Coleman, W. Castillo and Cardenas on their way up from Iowa for tonight's game.

George Ofman says multiple players involved in potential Dempster deal and Goldstein tweets that James Russell could be one of those players.

(You can usually find the tweets or links in the twitter box btw).

Jim Bowden claims they're just crossing the i's an t's on a deal to send Dempster to his beloved Dodgers.

Earlier the Dodgers gave up Lindblom and Ethan Martin for Shane Victorino.

The Giants are apparently getting Hunter Pence from the Phillies without including Gary Brown or Brandon Belt.

It seems Rangers, Reds and Blue Jays are the 3 teams still in on Garza.

Apparently Tommy Joseph Is the one going to Phil's for Pence, deal not quite finalized.

Dempster/Dodgers: Hoping for Webster, expecting Garret Gould . . . :0

hope he's not on twitter getting his news, he may get blindsided

A small part of me dies knowing Dempster's temper tantrum got him his way.

His 10/5 rights got him his way.

and the temper tantrum...

in the end, seems to have worked out for him...hopefully for the Cubs in some way as well.

You have kids, you know what a real tempter tantrum is.

Yeah, that unprofessionl jerk using his 10/5 rights to go where he wanted. The nerve.

I'm just glad Carlito got his way. (Get it?)

yes the movie!!!! nice and appropriate. I'll get my way if we get webster or lee. otherwise, Carlito's Whine!

Broken record.

So I'll repeat the flip side of the album: no one is upset with him exercising his 10/5 rights, they are upset with the unprofessional way in which he did so.

Yeah, broken record on the Dempster bashing, too.

Kaplan wrote today:

"Dempster has made it clear to Cubs management that he would like to play in Los Angeles but he also understands that Epstein and Hoyer have a job to do and he will not stand in their way if it means that the best deal is somewhere else," a source with knowledge of the discussions told me this morning. "He never told them he would only go to LA, he only said that he wanted time to make the best decision for him and his family and that is his right as a 10/5 [10 years in the majors, the last five with your current team] man. Ryan is serious about wanting to win a World Series and he will approve a deal if it gives him that chance. People who have been critical of him about the Atlanta deal don't have all of the facts."

That is not being unprofessional.

Dempster's Apologist

Press Release:

People who are critical of Dempster don't have all the facts.

People who are supportive have all the facts.

That is all.

And then there are people like me who aren't critical or supportive because I don't have all the facts. Isn't forming opinions better when they're actually supported by something tangible? At the very least, don't let unsupported opinions get you all angry.

Johann, I really was offended by the actual behavior of his tweets, his angry demeanor since then in interviews, and almost all of his quotes and logic. I am not trying to be argumentative.

The only fact that would change my mind (given that I am basing my opinion on observed behavior and words that don't match my personal taste for mature bahavior) would be if there was, say, someone with a death laser pointed at his head while he tweeted, or if he had his feet in a unsecured rat trap while he conducted interviews etc. it was his observed combative unprofessional behavior, not his decision.

In no way was I attempting to say that I had facts that no one else has. If it came off that way, part of that is on the people thinking it.

Actually wasn't commenting on you at all. I just think its a funny thing to say in a press statement - if you really think about it. "People who disagree with me don't have all the facts". Cracks me up...

I don't know who you are or where you come from, but I like the cut of your triangular sails.

"...no one knows exactly what happened except the parties involved"

Heed your own advice. You then don't know that he wasn't being unprofessional, yet you keep asserting it as a fact that he was being professional and just using his 10/5 rights.

So which is it? Do we not know all of the facts, in which case you are just as in the wrong as we are by talking about this like you know for sure what happened, or are you sure that he was being professional and simply using the "we don't know wall of the facts" as part of some sort of weak argument?

I don't get your unrelenting broken record defense of him that acts as if he has been 100% right and 0% wrong in everything that has happened over the past week no matter what new evidence comes to light your story has never changed. You've been pre-determined to support him since minute 1.

nobody knows nuthin'

Based on what I've read, I do not view him as unprofessional. I view him as someone who is taking his time to make a decision, which is his right. That's all I've been attempting to say "unrelentingly." You are correct, I don't have all the facts. Other people are acting like they do.

Feel free to skip my posts. It would be my pleasure to not read responses from you.

RHSP Ethan Martin and RHRP Josh Lindblom (traded to PHI for for Shane Victorino) sounds a lot like what the Dodgers were probably offering the Cubs for Ryan Dempster a week ago.

Likewise, RHSP Jacob Turner and two lesser prospects (traded to MIA for Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante a couple of weeks ago) could be what the Cubs were offered for Matt Garza and Darwin Barney.

And now OF Nate Schierholtz, RHRP Seth Rosin, and C Tommy Joseph to PHI for Hunter Pence could be what the Cubs would have gotten from SF yesterday if Soriano had waived his NTC (with the Cubs paying most of Soriano's remaining salary).

Espn 1000 Dempster trade is awaiting "approval"

oooooooooohhhhhhh! what will he do? what if the fucker stays. He's like the dinner guest / relative who won't go home . . .

haha! lol, Jeff. Lol. (from a Curb episode)

~Suzy leaves after reaming Larry and Jeff~

Larry- "You know what people say about you when you leave the room?"

Jeff-"No, what?"

Larry- "That poor bastard."

lots of speculation of bigger deal, Webster to Cubs possible, JAMES RUSSELL mentioned going to LA too. Appears to be multi player deal.

Where'd you hear this?

mentioned in the post and check the twitter box.

Rotoworld reporting that Soto trade is for Brigham and PTBNL/cash considerations. So maybe we get one more Ranger prospect.

@BNightengale Alfonso Soriano has informed the #Cubs which teams he would be traded to but no offer yet

Giants not on list, doesn't say who is

Rob G: What is with this Dodgers spending spree?? Did the Magic Group come in with billions? They really aren't competing with the Halos are they?

allegedly they told Ned to just make the team better regardless of the money.

Their TV contract is up after this year.

Is there any way the Cubs can find a way to get in on the new Dodgers TV contract?

Buster Olney [email protected]_ESPN
Diamondbacks working hard on something big, and a Garza/Upton framework makes sense for both Cubs and Diamondbacks.

Um, yes please.

Hard to believe Upton is still 24 for a few more weeks. Last year's power might have been a fluke. But even if so, we're talking about a 20-HR and .350-.370 OBP skills, 20 SBs, and above-average, consistent UZRs in right field.

Salaries remaining on contract (Cots): 12:$6.75M, 13:$9.75M, 14:$14.25M, 15:$14.5M

Guess who has no Cubs on his trade list?

According to Onley.

No surprise there.

Cubbery 3

Theo 1

As far as we knew, the Braves were okay for Dempster, and look what happened there, oh ye of little faith.

Saw somewhere it's Cubs, RSox, Yanks & Indians on his no-trade. Status quo for something I recently read where players block big-market teams for hopes of negotiating extensions if a trade happens. Doesn't apply to the Tribe of course.

That's the old "Big Market/Keep Me Outta Cleveland" contract clause.

it would be fun if the Cubs get Ted Lilly back from LA as a throw in as long as they send cash to cover his remaining contract.

(and the Ted Lilly Supercomputer has to be included in the package)

Have to get the fan club jackets back from the cleaners.

THAT would be awesome, considering word is that Dempster just wants to pitch with his buddy.

I'm pretty sure Dempster is the catcher in that relationship.

RE: Yankees in twit box: "Teams not talking seriously - yet."

Umm, they have how many hours to talk seriously?

All Theo keeps hearing about is Ken Phelps, Ken Phelps.

Are you telling me there's not one condo available in all of Del Boca Vista?

I find tinsel distracting

One post and 6 updates later...

How's that vacation going, Rob?

Damn you, Bryan LaHair!

Cubbery 4 TheoCorp 1

What did LaHair do?

His hitting line sank to the bottom of Lake Michigan.

LaHero to LaHitless

"I'm goin' legit."

Dempster includes tx as ok to be traded to according to Levine

Sure was fucking nice of him to give us a little time. Thanks Demp! You da man . . .

According to WScr theo and cashman have been on the phone

That's a first!

Speaking of Kaplan, every tweet is he has heard from "solid/impeccable/great" source. Isn't that the assumption? Would anyone think he was speaking to shitty sources?

Then he pats himself on the back when he gets something right.

it's his new thing

the dudes at Cubs Den have started doing the same thing, guaranteeing that I'll never link to them.

although, writing like you know something rather than just here's some information I came across and here's what I think of it makes you sound like more of an authority figure and the masses buy into it pretty easily. Probably good for traffic.

True. But I would think "Sources tells me" would be enough. Not for the Kapman.

oh I agree, it annoys me quite a bit.

You're all right, and I dislike sportwriters quite a bit, but I imagine in the modern internet rumor world where "sources tell me" was used indiscriminately (I'm looking at you early MLBTradeRumors), people are finding the need for superlatives to distinguish 'real' rumors.

As I tell my daughter: "No, you're not starving, you're hungry"...but hungry no longer has meaning in our world.

Or as my Korean friend/student once told me: "It's cold as a buttfucker".

Or as I tell my daughter. "DON'T PUT THAT FISH STICK IN YOUR EYE!"

I predict Dempster, sori& garza do not get traded today

Outside chance Dempster may still get dealt, but otherwise I agree.

After all of this, you may be spot on, Jacos.

Question from me: If Soriano isn't traded now but has to go through the waiver thing, is he ineligible for the postseason? Would he still be interested in a trade, if not (directed at the mind-readers out there)?

as long as he's traded before August 31st, he'd still be eligible for the postseason.

Gotcha, thanks.

From the Kapman:

"David Kaplan @thekapman
Source tells me: "the final half hour or so will be very interesting for Theo/Jed. Dominoes have to fall right for major things to happen."

"Jim Bowden claims they're just crossing the i's an t's on a deal to send Dempster to his beloved Dodgers."

This must not mean what I thought it meant.

Maybe he meant they are crossing out all the words on the offer sheet.

That guy is such a tool.

latest is that Dodgers are out and Yanks "may have" acquired Dempster.

It's like being preapproved for a loan or almost pregnant.

Sources asks me: "he needs a source to tell him that?"

These Tweets are all like Magic 8-Ball quotes.

Dempster to Texas

Scott Miller, Buster Olney, Carrie Muskat all get it at the same time.

Weird. Better wait for confirmation.

Former Cub Josh Hamilton????!?!?!?

The future is cloudy. Try again.

Hahaha! That's what I'm talkin about!

Mult tweets say Dempster to Rangers

Magic 8 Ball, Is it a good Prospect?

Be interesting to see the names. I wonder if the Rangers popping up at the last minute means they overpaid at all.

And the haters can be happy that he's not going to L.A.!

I more so hate Coletti. Good if true that Theo shoved it up his ass.

Dear Cub Fans,

Dempster has been traded.

Will let you know.

Epstein's Mother.

Bowden might want to get out of the Twitter business.

I think he probably meant Rangers. Its easy to confuse as last four letters of the name is the same.

I'll only believe Dempster has gone to the Rangers if Kaplan's impeccable sources say he has.

@ESPNChiCubs: RT @BNightengale: The Cubs get two minor leaguers back in return

One pitcher, one position player

Both Class A

according to Rosenthal

Rosenthal: One pitcher, one position player, both in A ball.

Sources: Rangers send 3B Christian Villanueva and RHP Kyle Hendricks to Cubs for Dempster.

Retweeted by Ken Rosenthal

Why am I joyed at the news of Dempster being traded yet I have absolutely no idea what the Cubs receive in return? Dempster was a good pitcher.

i knew the rangers would eventually get dumpster ;p

seriously, though...surprised it's not the dodgers, but not surprised TEX stepped up.

Don't know these guys either, but it's over, so I'm happy.

[edit] By either, I mean I also didn't know the Atlanta guys...

out of the TEX kids i've only heard of villa, myself...and not much.

glad it's over, too.

Video of Christian Villanueva

I saw Villanueva play for the AZL Rangers a couple of years ago, and he is an outstanding defensive 3B with plus bat speed, and he runs OK, too.

Thanks PHIL. As we all know, 3B is the Cubs Black Hole. And, we can ascertain that Vitters is not a Slam Dunk there.

Going to tonight's game -- looking foward to seeing the starting battery of Dempster and Soto.

k.hendricks innerweb stuffs...

September 26 2011 - Hearing good things about Rangers 8th rd pick Kyle Hendricks so far. Dartmouth product throws strikes w/ 90-94 mph fastball and plus change.

also...this dude really likes him...July 2012

steve phillips on MLB Network just called hendricks a "solid #4 starter" type projection talent...

and phillips would know back of the rotation talent.

Am I right fellas??

I doubt Phillips has seen him pitch down there.

same...but he's got more instant connections for info than anyone on the MLB staff, except maybe p.gammons...maybe.

it could have just been an off the cuff prediction, though. he didn't detail anything except the info we already know about him.

joking about Phillips affair with less then attractive intern back at ESPN.

~have to explain....~

I totally got it jacos.

" Hendricks is only 3-7"

That's really f'in short.

Christian Villanueva signed with the Rangers in August 2008, so he is eligible for selection in the December 2012 Rule 5 Draft and the Cubs will need to add him to their 40-man roster by November 20th.

Kyle Hendricks won't be Rule 5 eligible until post-2014 (he was drafted last year).

Jess Chen interview with Kyle Hendricks

He played college ball at Dartmouth, just like ex-Cub Mike Remlinger.

If his career is as successful as Yale's Ron Darling, I'll be really pleased.

0.81 walks per nine innings this year according to the wordress guy's blog above. I like that much for sure.

K/BB ratio over 7, that is something I definitely like. But to be honest, I'm happiest that (a) Dempster is gone, and (b) Theo successfully told the Dodgers in essence to go fuck themselves. Theo +1

Yes, I'll have to adjust the Cubbery vs. TheoCorp score soon. I'll wait to see if any other news goes down that hasn't leaked yet.

also...how the hell did s.victorino become so damn valuable?

i mean, if he had another year of club control or a cheap 2013 contract i could understand...but he's a FA...

dodgers gave up a hell of a package for a 2 month vic rental.

also, also...PHI fans are pissed about the house cleaning and what was gained in the pence trade.

The best scenario is for the following:

1. The Giants win the Division
2. The Angels win theirs.
3. The Dodgers actually go into a tailspin and finish 3rd.
4. Dodgers fans roast Coletti, again, for his shitty signings.
5. Coletti gets fired. Goes to work as an Assistant Scout under Hendry.

Wasn't Coletti in charge of, like concessions or something like that for the Cubs once?

Haha. Iirc, he was in Marketing.

Interesting BA blog post about & interview with Kyle Hendricks from a few days ago.

If nothing else, he seems like a very bright bulb.

dartmouth isn't exactly ASU.

dartmouth isn't exactly ASU.

CRUNCH: Correct.

But ASU is the MIT of the West, the Princeton of the Desert, if you will, the Vanderbilt of the Valley of the Sun...

Conversely, U. of A is Nogales Community College.

i almost went to college there, myself (ASU)...too much $$ to do out-of-state, though.

they have an awesome urban horticulture program with great facilities.

UofA has an awesome program, too, but it's more geared toward "lab tech" horticulture.

CRUNCH: Back when I was at ASU, out-of-state tuition at Arizona colleges was the second-lowest in the U. S. (Mississippi was the lowest), so everybody was from someplace else.

It was like going to Mars and meeting a bunch of the guys from the old neighorhood... Plus CUBS SPRING TRAINING!

I got out of there with my degree just in time before they jacked-up the rates.

When I was in college I had a little fling with a rather flexible young swimmer from the ASU swim team. Or was it U of A? Or Nogales. Dammit, I can't remember now.

This has got to be the most interesting comment in days. Go on, O/B, go on...

Fork 'em, Devils.

For all the greatness you speak of ASU it's UofA who gets all the headlines with their talents in planetary sciences, engineering, anthropology etc. They pretty much destroy anything ASU does.

UofA is classified as a Carnegie Foundation (high level of research) and no University gets more Nasa grants than the UofA. A lot of the Mars projects are designed and run out of the UofA. The Phoenix landing was the 1st mission controlled entirely by a university.

ASU is more of a community college/party campus.

As you can tell anyone from the lower half of the state is UofA and anyone from the upper half is ASU.

Oh, then she was probably from ASU.

"bright bulb"

Yes, that's a very interesting interview. When he's a little older, maybe he'll take a cue from Greg Maddux and not give away his secrets, at least until he's getting paid to give advice.

There was a market for Shawn Camp, but the Cubs insisted on including Dale Sveum in any deal.

Former Cub and Theo comp, Chris Carpenter comes off the 60 day DL and get sent to Pawtucket...Prior needed a roomie?

1st inning grand slam...neat.

4-0 pit/chc...top 1st, 1 out.

go coleman go...to AAA.

The down side of a fire sale

and now the real suckage begins

It was fun while it lasted.

We will for sure sew-up #1 draft choice.

Sounds fine to me. Full commitment to a specific direction.

There HAS to be someone at AAA who could do better than a 7+ ERA in the bigs. What about Jay Jackson? He'll give up a few runs, but he'll get some back with the bat too.

Sheff, I think that we can be sure that management will not have reservations any more for the rest of the year. Sure...Jay Jackson? Why not? Volstad and his Act? Why not? Chris Rusin? OK!

Even Jeff Belliveau! Who has shown that he just can't seem to pitch when he gets called up to the Majors.

I have more faith in HoyStein with a #1 pick than I would be with Hendry at the helm, anyway.

Might as well throw everything at the wall and see what sticks.

Wait..but do we want to start the clock on Jay Jackson???

"Beliveau . . . has shown that he just can't seem to pitch when he gets called up to the Majors."

This is his first callup. Are you thinking of Gaub?

"There HAS to be someone at AAA who could do better . . . "

There is a reason why Iowa loses six games every week--starting pitching. Among Coleman, Rusin, Raley, Volstad, Jackson (who mostly relieves now), Lopez and De La Cruz, only Raley has decent numbers and gives the I-Cubs a chance to win. As a lefty, Raley might fill in nicely for Maholm. But Raley is in his first season at this level and they could be applying the "full season at Iowa" rule to him.

Coleman 36 pitch top of 1st

Trying to make Volstad look like an upgrade?

Hahaha. At least we will know who can have a shot, and who doesn't, next year.

Tigers' GM says he never talked to the Cubs about Soriano.

But there was a tweet that said he did!

I am sure it was Swami Bowden.

It was from Kaplan, wonder if that was an impeccable source or just an ordinary run of the mill shit source?

Crane Kenney is an impeccably shitty source.

Bizarre top of 3rd.
Single, single (first n third), fielder choice Rizzo to Clevinger, single by alvarez over DeJesus head but Jones holds 3rd and Walker goes to 3rd and is tagged for the 2nd out. Barajas walks to load the bases before Barmes out on a FC Valbuena unassisted.

3 hits, one BB, no runs

And Coleman 71 pitches thru 3

And Burnett perfect thru 3

Supposedly Soriano almost traded to Dodgers...

burn no-hitter on the cubs through 6ip (74 pitches)

burnett no hitter through 6

no hitter thru 7

Last no hitter at Wrigley was Milt Pappas' almost Perfect game ruined by umpire Bruce Froemming in 1972

Last time Cubs no hit was Koufax perfect game in 1965 in LA

5 outs to go

barney beaned, top of helmet, taken out precaution should be okay

suck it burnett

cardenas singles

somewhere sandy koufax smiles

So much for cub and Wrigley no-no history stories

Theo and Jed did well with these deals. It is mind boggling the lack of pitching in this organization (thanks Diamond Jim Hendry!) but at least some intriguing arms have been obtained.

This team is going to be epically bad the rest of this season and probably next season too. But I am very confident that Theo, Jed, Jason and Dale can build this thing over time.

Jim Hendry is no Diamond Joe Quimby.

  • I don't know how many of you remember Bobby Knoop, who played 2B for the Angels, White Sox, and Royals back in the day, but he is a coach-emeritus for the Angels, and works with the infielders at Minor League Camp, Extended Spring Training, and Instructs. He's pretty spry for a 77-year old, and he really knows his shit.

  • Cubs 3B Jason Vosler made two really bad throws on consecutive AB in the 8th. Fortunately the game was no longer in doubt at the time

The first one was a one-hop lob that allowed the batter to reach base on an infield single, and the second was air-mailed so far over the first-baseman's head that it went over the fence and landed in Field #4.

  • E-MAN: Despite the HR, Donnie Dewees is really more of a slash hitter (the HR was an opposite-field line-drive) who can accumulate lots of doubles & triples. He's also a good bunter and can get on base that way, too. He doesn't take a lot of walks, but he also doesn't strike out a lot, either. Although he was thrown out trying to steal in the game, he's actually a good base-stealer and baserunner. Defensively he has plus-range and tracks fly balls OK, so he can play CF, but he has a rag arm that requires the middle infielders to go out further into CF to make relays.

  • Maybe they have a bad owner, I don't know, but they still have players and fans and a franchise, all devastated by this loss of life. Plus, everybody who follows baseball is a fan of a guy like this. It's why I used the word tragedy, which other people throw around but I try to be careful with.

I'm at an age where I remember old incidents better than recent ones, but I have to go back to Herb Score for something as disturbing.

  • Hate to give the Mets credit, but they did everything right tonight in what had to be a very tough game for them to play. As Hollandsworth said on the Cubs post-game -- if you watched the game, you saw Mets players consoling Marlins players who were in tears during the game. Between that and the way Molina handled the Ross farewell -- maybe the Mets and Cardinal players aren't pure evil. Just the fans.

Hopefully, he can get a few outings in this week and find his groove. Also, I guess Soler is still struggling with his right side. Hmmmm. Too bad Joe didn't let Addy bat with the bases loaded in the 7th -- great RBI opportunity.
