Phillies @ Cubs: Eickoff vs Hendricks (Game 47)
Smooth sailin’…PHI (26-22): RHP Jerad Eickoff (2-6, 3.86)
CHC (32-14): RHP Kyle Hendricks (2-4, 3.30)
First pitch: 1:20pmCST
Hendricks lost in San Francisco (5.1 IP, 1 ER, 1 K, 3 BB) on Sunday in a game Bumgarner and the Giants won 1-0. Hendricks is 1-1 with a 2.38 at Wrigley so far this year. The Phillies are 3-16 (.188) against him, overall. Howard, Asche, and Herrera each have a hit—all doubles.
Eickoff took his turn at beating Atlanta (7 IP, 0 ER, 3 K, 1 BB) his last time out. He’s 0-4 with a 6.43 on the road so far this year. (Nice.) For their careers, the Cubs are 3-19 (.158) against him. Baez and Montero are 1-3.
There’s a 15% chance of rain all afternoon. Hopefully, we can keep the wrap off the field.
Velasquez (5-1, 2.75) versus Lackey (4-2, 3.38) tomorrow at 1:20pmCST to close out the weekend.
Looking ahead to the Dodger series: Kershaw is scheduled to pitch tomorrow night, which means he'll miss the four-game series at Wrigley. So sad. But unless they pull him out of the rotation, we'll get to see the Urias kid, though (on Wednesday against Lester).
Go, Cubs!
