is TCR main page formatting broken or just me? first it was formatting on the right side bar for a few days, now it's degraded into that + grey background page color in a frame for a few days.
-edit- nevermind...just checked with another browser, pretty sure it's not just me. was just wondering cuz no one's brought it up.
I thought the only real insurance was sold when the dealer is showing an ace.
i don't trust small business insurance.
i only buy insurance from companies who have animated spokesmen/women/animals. this is way too important of a life decision to not be influenced by cartoons.
When you put it that way, it sounds brilliant.
If he's selling insurance it should be URCOX.
Ad- "A meteorite destroys your home, everything is destroyed but you have an insurance company that will hold your hand through this catastrophe ... And in your hand you will find URCox."
I have a couple advertising related questions. One regards this site. Who names their small business insurance company HISCOX? WTH is wrong with people? I guess it's better than HERCOX.
And the other is the Cubs games. I guess I've been away from Chicago too long, but, "The Fifth Third Bank?" What kind of a name is that? But worse is the tagline. "The Curious Bank." I guess it works if you're looking for memorable advertising, but I don't want to do business with a curious bank, to be honest. My bank has plenty of information about me.
0-7 with 3K soriano vs chapman brought on to pinch hit with 2 on, 2 out, in the 9th.
make that 0-8 with 4K...cubs lose by 3.
...not like there was much better options, fwiw. meh.
Return of CRUNCH!
c.granderson (NYY) broken left pinky after HBP...unbelievable.
no hitter gone after 8.1
a.sanchez (CHC DET) no hitter through 7
scott feldman 2r HR (1st career)
...cubs pitchers are rather awesome hitters this season. a few doubles, a couple homers...15 rbis for cubs pitchers.
cubs up 3-0, top 2nd.
Phil,
Will you give us a scouting report on the young Latino pitchers at Fitch. Do any of them impress? Thanks.
Hot Sheet Chat:
What is Jorge Soler's upside and or MLB comp? Thanks
Jim Shonerd: Scouts do worry about his swing mechanics a bit, but overall he’s got plenty of power and blends it with a feel for hitting. His offense was in a bit of funk after he got back from his suspension, but now he’s hitting .324 in May and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him end the year in Double-A.
Soler and Baez at #11 & 12 on Baseball America's weekly hot sheet.

I found this gem this morning...
Form about 1984 it looks like, former Padre pitcher Mark Grant doing impressions of 1980's umpires, including a few of my favorites such as the late, great Eric Gregg, Dutch Renner, and John McSherry. Good for a laugh, if nothing else.

not bad...if he peed on his hands before the Alou one, I would have nominated him for the TCR Hall of Fame.

I noticed one for Microsoft Live Search on the right sidebar...it's pretty sweat actually, I used it yesterday.
Found it through Consumerist.com, similar to Google Product Search except they actually give you a percentage back on the purchase (pretty decent percentage) PLUS calculate shipping costs on the prices. Bought a Memory Stick for the wife's cellphone and got 4% back.
Only negative is that it's not nearly as a deep a pool of merchants as Google.

I saw this a couple weeks ago on another site.
He's pretty good - but I am told (as is alluded to) he does dozens of all kinds of players. He's a fan of an East Coast team (Red Sox? I can't remember), so its impressive that he knows the old school Cubs.

Moises Alou watched this video of the guy doing his batting stance impression and was laughing so vigorously he pulled a calf muscle and is going on the DL again.

I thought it would suck, pretty good actually. I wanted to see Jerome Walton, THAT was a crazy stance.

The mime-like quality of his performance added a nice touch.
