Cubs Minor League Affiliates - Roster LImits & Restrictions
For the purpose of determining minor league roster limits & restrictions, a minor league player accrues a year of "service time" for every season where the player spends at least 30 days on an MLB and/or minor league active list or disabled list, unless the player spent the entire season on the DL. Service time accrued by a player while assigned to a club or clubs in the Dominican Summer League (DSL) and/or Venezuelan Summer League (VSL) does not count when determining minor league roster limits and restrictions.
IOWA: 38 players (RESERVE LIST) - 25 players (ACTIVE LIST) - no service time limit
TENNESSEE: 37 players (RESERVE LIST) - 25 players (ACTIVE LIST) - no service time limit
DAYTONA: 35 players (RESERVE LIST) - 25 players (ACTIVE LIST) - maximum two players with six or more years of service time, and maximum one player-coach with six or more years of service time (seasons spent on DSL or VSL rosters do not count).
KANE COUNTY: 35 players (RESERVE LIST) - 25 players (ACTIVE LIST) - maximum two players with five or more years of service time (seasons spent on DSL or VSL rosters do not count).
BOISE: 35 players (RESERVE LIST) - 30 players (ACTIVE LIST) - maximum three players with four or more years of service time (seasons spent on DSL or VSL rosters do not count).
AZL CUBS: 35 players (RESERVE LIST) - no players with three or more years of service time (seasons spent on DSL or VSL rosters do not count).
DSL CUBS: 35 players (RESERVE LIST) - no players with four or more years of service time, and only international players can be assigned to DSL clubs.
VSL CUBS: 35 players (RESERVE LIST) - no players with four or more years of service time, and only international players can be assigned to VSL clubs.
NOTE: Boise is permitted to designate 25 players as "active" for each game (at least ten must be pitchers beginning on July 1st), and the AZL Cubs, DSL Cubs, and VSL Cubs are permitted to designate 30 players "active" for each game (at least ten must be pitchers beginning on July 1st).

I was listening to the "live" audio on mlb.com when the Cubs drafted Dustin Geiger back in 2010, and they announced him as an "outfielder" when they drafted him. So although he had played 3rd base in HS, the Cubs Area Scout projected Geiger as a corner outfielder. But to get him to sign (he had signed an NLI with Central Florida), the Cubs had to give him an overslot bonus and agree to let him play 3B (at least for a while).
So look for Geiger to be moved to a corner OF slot (probably LF, what with Soler holding down RF) sometime soon.
Outstanding effort Phil. Thanks for the updates.
tough loss today, if this team could hit with risp be more fun to watch.
they are moving forward though
m.bowden DFA'd...damn.
Thanks as always, AZ.
On a different subject, I just now noticed the record of the L.A. Angels in the standings.

they have an entire section of the bleachers today...kinda creepy.
Mets fans are louder than Cubs fans. A new low point.
Brett Jackson...
"Some of the best advice I've gotten is, I was sitting with Ian Stewart, talking about hitting and I was feeling for my swing as you do early in the season," Jackson recalled. "He asked if I was comfortable at the plate and I said I'm not very comfortable right now. He's like, 'You need to be yourself at the plate and be comfortable and be the type of hitter [you] want to be.'"

Interesting tweet in the tweet box: z'Remember when Rizzo was striking out a lot? No K's in last 31 AB's..tied for 2nd longest active streak in majors"
Don't know if that includes last night, but it sure goes a long way to explaining his improved hitting. It's a curious thing, though, the difference between the way his season started and now. How does that happen?
