Cubs vs. Astros: Series Thread (Games 23-25)
The Cubs split a series with the Marlins and greet the Astros at Wrigley, now with a 13-9 record. The Astros have struggled to a 7-16 record to start the season and the second worst team ERA in the majors, leading only the Rockies. Their offense remains potent and the Astros roster is still worthy of caution. See below for daily matchups as the Cubs finish up their homestand with three games against the 'Stros.

It's not that there is absolutely nothing positive to say about the Cubs right now. It's that the positives are so deep beneath so much raw sewage, I just don't have it in me to go baling through the muck to uncover them.
Instead, I have decided that the best way to get through this latest low spot in this awful season is to find a National League team even more woeful than our Cubs.

They won those trades and sacrificed their culture. That’s exactly their problem.

The other part that’s kind of crazy is they made two very high profile trades, one for Goldschmidt and one for Arenado, and they very clearly won those trades. They just haven’t been able to develop players the last handful of years the way they usually do.
I guess the moral there is it’s hard to stay on top of your game and be good at what you do in perpetuity.

Marmol was extended at the beginning of the year. Two years I believe.

Craig Counsell doesn’t have a timetable for Cody Bellinger who technically has two cracked ribs on his right side. CT scan showed it today.

Thought it might have been David Peralta given the open 40 man spot and how PCA has played so far.

I hope they keep Mozeliak a few more years. Marmol too!

welp...
bellinger...fractured rib.
a not-very-ready PCA will probably be called up when it would be much better for him to be in AAA getting regular ABs.

i have no hard data, but i'm seeing the same thing.
there used to be some parks where that was rampant (colorado during the todd helton days comes to mind), but i'm seeing it all over the place the past couple seasons.
