Weekend funnies: At least there's a Cardinal or Brewer loss every game...

What's a Cub Fan to do?
It's the St. Louis Cardinals vs the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2011 National League Championship Series.
Seems like this painful display has been going on for weeks, and what's worse is the games have been pretty good.
Why do we hate St. Louis so much?
Because they're always good.
At baseball.
Milwaukee?
Well, they'll probably lose Prince, but they look kinda loaded for years to come.
At least each time they play in this series, one of 'em loses.
And they've been doing a good job of alternating those losses.
But suddenly it's getting to the end, and I've recently come to the revolting realization that the NEXT THING is about to happen.
Like, if the Brewers lose on Sunday, that means the freaking Cardinals get to go play in the World Series.
Or if the Cards lose the next two games, then it'll be the Brewers...
In the often helpful words of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, "Dogs licked my heart."
Well, at least we have Theo Epstein, right?
And if you're in Chicago, there's always Jake's Pub over at Clark and Oakdale.
Just waiting with it's awesome beer selection and fabulous pool table.
I might just have to go see how straight his sticks are.

theo's worth 10 prince fielders.
we got theo...the best hitting coach in the world...and maybe a new manager.
all that's keeping the club from being #1 is a minor detail of 1st, RF, 3rd, and a SP or two...minor details. maybe a new pitching coach rather than all of that mess...or a new president in charge of promotional napkins.
cubs baseball...another off-season...another name brand suit. lou still needs a job for 4-6 months or until he gets bored with making awesomeness happen.

1- sign theo for 5 years
2- backload contract
3- trade to ARZ after 4 years for goldschmidt
4- pay goldschmidt $160m for 8 years
5- replace GM with the actress that played B.Beane's daughter in the Moneyball movie
6- win 5th world series in a row

no doubt.
i dont mind the theo move...i'm just ready to get to the real offseason need, players. i'm staying out of the compensation thing until i know who's actually being given up...if anyone. meh.
also, wow...the shine wore off rudy really quickly...almost easy to forget he was supposed to be one the coach/saviors. hell, you barely hear his name mentioned.

Milwaukee?
I actually used to like Milwaukee. Most of my dislike comes from the belief that Braun (despite what he's done for my fantasy team) is an enormous douchebag. I've got no problem with anyone else. I'm rooting for them over the Cards, easily...then the AL against them in the WS, or course.

the Sept. 98 CHC/MIL games were electric...2 home games in particular were high scoring and the fans were way into it.

cubs won on the 22, too, but it wasn't anything special.
4 games vs. MIL in Sept. 98...3 of them awesome.

That's fine, Theo needs at least one or two guys who know the system he's going to implement. I wonder how many old school types there are in the Cubs front office.

it's not even a promotion tie-in because they took the labels off the soda.
that's so damn misguided wholesome...corrosive sugar water #1.

If I recall correctly from last years run, they avoid alcohol in order to include Josh Hamilton in team celebrations.

Don't they have any diabetics on the team? Corrosive sugar water is almost as bad for society as alcohol. Bunch of party poppers on that Texas team, it's going to make it hard to root for them. Ron Washington ruined the traditional ALCS coke binge party for everyone too.
Blah, how many days till spring training?

I think that's why they took the labels off the pop bottles, so Washington wouldn't be seen doing Coke in public.
