2019 Predictions Contest

The Free Agents Contest has not been determined, but it's already time to reveal your "genius" in a new way: . It's the second or third most wholesome thing you can do on the web.

Make your guesses by the first pitch of opening day. Thoughts and prayers are useless, but bribes can be sent using PayPal, Venmo, or EBT.

Good luck!

n.hoerner goes 2/2 with a walk and a HR...neat.  he also played SS.

Besides the line-drive HR to left-center, Hoerner flew around the bases today, going from 1st to 3rd in the 5th and tagging up at 2nd base and advancing to 3rd on a fly ball to LF in the 7th. Hoerner is a very fast runner, folks.

Is he a base stealing threat in the future?

Is it my meds, or could Hoerner be a home-grown leadoff option?

TIM: You must be taking the same meds I'm taking.

His triple the other day was magnificent. https://twitter.com/nbcscubs/status/1104096390706274305?s=21

dodgers DFA'd josh fields on thursday and released him today.

it seems odd he had little value to the dodgers or anyone else in trade.

2 years of a sub-1.00 WHIP and ERA in the 2.00's doesn't go as far as it used to.

HAGSAG: Chris Allen was at AZ Winter Instructs January-February, then at Minor League Camp in March (but he didn't pitch in any ST games), and then Extended Spring Training after that, but he didn't pitch in any EXST games until about two or three weeks ago.

He hasn't allowed a run yet at EXST. Good size (6'4). Still lanky so he could fill-out. Throws strikes (70% strikes today). 87-90 MPH two-seamer has sink and runs away from RH hitters, and he has a plus-CV and also throws a CH. Six up / six down today (3-U, 6-3, K, K, K, 4-3).

Phil, is it just me or is Chris Allen getting a lot of people out?

Darvish or the pen.  You want to be hung or shot?

You've been drinking, haven't you.  I mean, more than usual.

Chatwood for closer...........makes it exciting like Lee Smith......(runs for cover).

I'm sure me or brothers had baseball cards of Lindy McDaniel, Larry Jackson, Bob Buhl and George Altman which my Mom threw away or 'garage saled' them when I was in college............thanks, Mom.....love you, anyway.

    phew...needed that win for sanity.

I think Theo can put the phone down now. Cubs finally have their lockdown, drama free closer in Chatwood.

after putting 2 on via hits, chatwood throws a sinker/cutter followed by a changeup (lefty batter).

he gets a ground ball double play on the 97mph fastball following.

it's been a while since he's thrown 2 off-speed pitches to the same batter.  many batters see nothing but the fastball.

Sets up just like yesterday with Votto and Suarez leading off the ninth ... one more run to play with though today with the two run lead

    woo.  cubs lead.

no idea.  i thought he was done after 7, myself.  it wasn't exactly a smooth/simple 7th.

  • Eric S 8 hours 3 min ago (view)

Particularly after it appeared he was airing it out in the seventh, perhaps thinking that was his last inning.

  • Charlie 8 hours 8 min ago (view)

Anybody have an explanation of why he started the 8th? I can't figure it out. Lefty batter leading off the inning and Darvish was already very near 100 pitches.
