AZ Phil, I have been reading past international reviews and came upon a promising quote about Abraham Rodriguez from 2016. Rodriguez didn't play in 2017. Have you heard why? Also, have you noticed him this spring?

VIDEO: OF-1B Abraham Rodriguez is a "bat-first" guy (he is a train-wreck in the outfield) who consistently drills hard-contact line-drives foul-line-to-foul-line.

He missed the 2017 season after undergoing surgery for a torn labrum in his left (throwing) shoulder, but he is starting to get some lift in his swing and could become a very interesting hitting prospect later this season (probably in the AZL, but maybe at Eugene).

Hi AZ Phil,

Do you know what injury Erling Moreno is rehabbing from? Seemed like he was healthy early on in the spring based on your updates. Thank you!

RAISIN: I don't know what Moreno's injury is. While he's on the Myrtle Beach DL, he's not in the "Rehab Throwing Program" and he throws bullpen side-sessions, but at the same time he hasn't pitched in any games yet. Stay tuned for further info.

HAGSAG: I don't know where Chris Coghlan is at this time, but he has not been on the field in Mesa for almost two weeks. It's possible that he has an injury that precludes him from taking the field even for limited activities, or maybe he returned home to contemplate his future, or he might have physically joined the Iowa Cubs sometime over the past couple of weeks but has not yet been activated.

steele MRI on friday.  counsell expects an IL stint.

no current plans for his rotation replacement.

I would say also in the bright side column is Busch looked pretty good overall at the plate. Alzolay…man, that hurts but most of the time he’s not giving up a homer to that guy. To me the worst was almonte hanging that pitch to Garcia. He hung another one to the next hitter too and got away with it on an 0-1.

amaya blocked like 6-8 of smyly's pitches in the dirt very cleanly...not even an exaggeration, smyly threw a ton of pitches bouncing in tonight.

neris looking like his old self was a relief (no pun), too.

In looking for bright spots the defense was outstanding tonight. The “stars” are going to need to shine quite a bit brighter than they did tonight offensively though for this to be a successful season.

Good baseball game. Hopefully Steele is pitching again in April (but I’m not counting on it).

    boo.

smyly to face the 2/3/4 hitters with a man on 2nd in extras.

this doesn't seem like a 8 million dollar managerial decision.

i 100% agree with you, but i dunno how jed wants to run things.  the default is delay.  i would choose brown.

like hellfrozeover says, could be smyly since he's technically fresh and stretched.

anyway, on a pure talent basis....brown is the best option.

Use pitchers when you believe they're good. Don't plan their clock.

I'm sorry. I'm simply anti-clock/contract management. Play guys when they show real MLB potential talent.

If Brown hadn't been hurt with the Lat Strain he would've gotten the call, and not Wick.

    Give him a chance.

    But Wesneski probably gets it
