Comments

i am very concerned about the direction of this team and the workload d.ross is putting on TBD, who has been straight up carrying this team in 2022.

higgins gets 1st today.  morel gets 3rd.

morel "feels most comfortable" at 2nd, but seems to play a decent 3rd.  be nice to keep seeing him there.  he doesn't seem to be made for CF, though it's not terrible...still not good.

pujols is a f'n legend.

on...on...ON FIRE since the all-star break.

30th career wrigley field homer.  crazy.

ah, these are the terrible cubs i learned to tolerate earlier in the year.

all these wins and close games post-break had me feeling good for a minute.

Re Luke Farrell from mlbtr:

Over 59 innings (at Iowa), Farrell has a 5.03 ERA with a below-average 19% strikeout rate and a higher than average 10.9% walk percentage.

What's not to like? Use the force Luke.

2023 MLB schedule released.  for the first time all teams will play all teams.  only 52 games vs division opponents (previously 76 games).

march 30th opening day and all teams will play opening day.

I live in Texas so this more balanced schedule is nice for picking road destinations to attend. Looks like a nice weekend Sat night/Sun day game series in San Diego might be in my future.  Could take a day or so off work and make a trip over to Houston for the weekday series. Was hoping for Rangers in Arlinton next season to see the new stadium.

luke farrell throwing a perfect game!

8 innings to go.  hell of a return to the bigs.  let's make some history.

c.dickerson with 10 straight hits off stroman.

also, when was the last time the cubs had a LF'r that was "wow!" as happ?  have they ever?  i'm not used to being impressed with LF defense...

Promo warning...
I got accepted into the Bucktown Arts Fest. First time I’ll be showing original art. If you happen to be in Chicago, please stop by Sat or Sun.

I would say also in the bright side column is Busch looked pretty good overall at the plate. Alzolay…man, that hurts but most of the time he’s not giving up a homer to that guy. To me the worst was almonte hanging that pitch to Garcia. He hung another one to the next hitter too and got away with it on an 0-1.

amaya blocked like 6-8 of smyly's pitches in the dirt very cleanly...not even an exaggeration, smyly threw a ton of pitches bouncing in tonight.

neris looking like his old self was a relief (no pun), too.

In looking for bright spots the defense was outstanding tonight. The “stars” are going to need to shine quite a bit brighter than they did tonight offensively though for this to be a successful season.

Good baseball game. Hopefully Steele is pitching again in April (but I’m not counting on it).

    boo.

smyly to face the 2/3/4 hitters with a man on 2nd in extras.

this doesn't seem like a 8 million dollar managerial decision.

i 100% agree with you, but i dunno how jed wants to run things.  the default is delay.  i would choose brown.

like hellfrozeover says, could be smyly since he's technically fresh and stretched.

anyway, on a pure talent basis....brown is the best option.

Use pitchers when you believe they're good. Don't plan their clock.

I'm sorry. I'm simply anti-clock/contract management. Play guys when they show real MLB potential talent.

If Brown hadn't been hurt with the Lat Strain he would've gotten the call, and not Wick.

    Give him a chance.

    But Wesneski probably gets it

    alzolay...bro...
