Quintana beat the Brewers (6.2 IP, 0 ER) on Tuesday. He’s 2-1 with a 3.18 in three starts against the Reds this season. Overall, they are 27-96 (.281) against him. Votto is 4-11.

Castillo held the Dodgers to 1 ER in 6.1 innings for the win his last time out. He’s 1-1 with a 6.00 in four starts against the Cubs this season. For their careers, these Cubs are 25-92 (.272) against him. Happ is 4-4.

Go Cubs!

j.heyward activated...and la stella has a sore back so he's scratched from today's lineup...

how is this team in 1st place?

are 80 of the 87 wins 1 run games?

contreras not respecting 90...and almost getting thrown out at 2nd after watching his hit off the wall from home plate for about 8 seconds before starting to run.

also, there's a fan at the game with a #95 chad noble jersey...i have no idea why...

I hope Joe reams him out for that.  As much as Contreras has been hurting the team with his offense and defense lately, he needs to bust it out of the box every time.  Inexcusable.

Agreed.  Even if he hit the ball 500 ft off the center field scoreboard, when you are playing like crap and effectively benched, you don’t stand there admiring your beauty work.  He needs to get his head on straight.

Not going to defend the lapse in hustle, but we're still talking about a guy who is 4th in baseball in WAR for catcher,  .2 away from second.  Willson hitting a double is pretty low on my list of worries for the club...

"we haven't seen any wildly stupid baserunning in a while." - cubs fans

"hold my beer.  i got you, fam." - daniel murphy

cubs lose, brews play tonight for those that still care.

If the Cubs play .500 ball the rest of the season (which they've been doing since Aug 1st), the Cards have to go like 13-1 to tie them.

Magic # to clinch a WC spot is 8, pending the STL game tonight.

Greinke pitched today, Corbin on Monday vs Hendricks.

Montgomery vs tbd on Tues.

Ray vs Hamels on Wed.

Thursday - NO GAME

schwarber will not travel with the team to ARZ...hopes to rejoin the action friday+ vs wsox.

I'm trying to come up with scenarios where saying "The problem I have with you people....." really helps the conversation move forward constructively.  None really jump to mind.

i still want proof that tom ricketts and ted cruz aren't the same person

Tom's older brother is an ass, even with an embarrassing apology.

Here is the twitter video from Pastor Jarrod Parker:

I agree.  Laura is the real deal. I think she was the major influence that showed Tom R. and Crane Kenney how to show a "human side" and deal realistically and in a non-threatening way, with the local Chicago politicians. Kenney was clearly clueless in his initial attempts regarding the neighborhood, the Rooftop owners, and the Wrigley Field rebuild.

I am a Laura Ricketts fan. To hell with the rest of them.

    Dale Murphy @DaleMurphy3

Last night, my son was shot in the eye with a rubber bullet while peacefully protesting for justice for George Floyd. His story is not unique. Countless others have also experienced this use of excessive police force while trying to have their voices heard.

"this idea isn't a proposal at all and may actually be a measure that is forced into action by the league if the two sides can't sort out the financial details for a longer season."

MLBPA: Over our dead bodies. Followed by Trump sending in the military to force ballplayers and fans to perform like puppets on strings with fans to yell (and cough and sneezing) at the umpires. Ah, baseball before Jackie Robinson. The Trump Republican Party: Bring back the Cheating/Pandemic  1919 White only - White Sox. Say it ain't so, Joe.

Trump waiving a bible in front of the church is a total disgrace.

    ...but now there's this...

"According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, Major League Baseball views a season of around 50 games as a "last resort" option should there be no agreement with the MLBPA.

  • crunch 1 day 23 hours ago (view)

    Jeff Passan @JeffPassan
Major League Baseball intends to propose a shorter season in which they would pay players a full prorated share of their salaries, sources told ESPN. The league believes the late March agreement allows it to set the schedule, and that this would fulfill players’ pro rata desire.

Minor League Baseball makes the cover of SI!  Two years ago, I would have been elated.  Today, it's depressing (like the article.)

Crunch, thanks. I can be a jerk at times, but you bailed me out. Btw I'm the whitest white boy (who grew up next to Wrigley and also worked at my dad's warehouse next to Cabrini Green). I'm truly ashamed of this president. I don't believe anyone sane wants more of him. Go Cubs!! I miss Bobby Dernier's first home run against the Padres.

'we have a donald trump problem, but he may be a highly advanced and dangerous symptom rather than the actual disease.'

Surely true, dear Crunch. Trump has emboldened the ugly fact that America's cruel underbelly is still racism and police brutality that forwards that original sin.

    America NEEDS its HEROES.
