Two Cubs trade rumors from this morning - the first comes from

The Chicago Cubs, who already made a big splash with pitcher Rich Harden, are exploring deals to add a lefty-hitting right fielder. The Cubs have inquired about Seattle's Raul Ibanez, San Diego's Brian Giles and Kansas City's David DeJesus, according to sources.

I think pretty much any left-handed hitting outfielder is going to be associated with the Cubs over the next few hours. Lo and behold, we have some rumblings from the

As Robert Ripley would say - Believe it or Not!

The Cubs go for blood today with Rich Harden taking the mound. After a 112-pitch duel with Randy Johnson, he was lifted after 87 pitches against the Marlins and  We'll see if he can keep up his remarkable 15.58 K/9 rate as a Cub.  We'll see if he can pick up his first win as a Cub as well.

For the Brewers, it's Dave Bush on the mound. Always a pre-season sleeper pick for fantasy teams because of glossy walk to strikeout ratio, he seems to be unable to put together any success over the course of a season. He is sporting a 2.85 home ERA though and Ned Yost is going to platoon him and Seth McClung as the Brewers fifth starters (3.32 road ERA) depending on the venue.

Sweep! Sweep! Sweep!

Comments

Iowa Cub note: Michael Wuertz fanned 7 of the 9 hitters he faced last night in a rare 3 inning stint, FWIW...

Rich Hill last night in Daytona: 3 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 1 K.... meh I'm starting to wonder if we are EVER going to see him back with the Cubs...

Iowa Cubs?

Daytona Cubs....

Rich Harden being his usual awesome self. Hopefully he can complete at least 7 innings and get a win as he is finally getting run support from our one-man wrecking crew called Jimmie Hotdog.

Wow, the Brewers are bush league. Not Ready for Prime Time.

Gagne and Fielder both tossed in the 9th. Sorry I missed that. :-)

I think Eyre and Marshall just got in the game cos Lou needed his weekly exercise walking back and forth to the mound.

...and strop gives up a hit then walks the bases loaded.

...and he closes it out with a K.  neat.

this is the 1st cubs road series win since May 17-19 @WAS.

strop comes in to get the last out, but it has to be some kinda slow-walk back in a game that wasn't a save situation.

    homer, hbp, k, k...looks healthy.

one takeaway from this game...a slew of cubs players were fans of Hey Arnold! when they were kids.

so stoked for the williamsport game.

the increasing amount of off-site games is a bit concerning (middle of nowhere Field of Dreams field, really?), but I love this one.  it's played out great so far and giving the kids playing in the LL series some primo seats (hope this continues) is a great touch.

Craig Kimbrel reinstated from IL, Duane Underwood Jr optioned to Iowa, Mark Zagunis recalled as the "26th man" for tonight's game (special travel required to get to Williamsport so MLB Comissioner permits 26th man for both clubs).

Like having a 5-1 lead going into the ninth?

With our vaunted late inning tandem of Tyler Chatwood and Rowan Wick!

    Who would have thought?

Cubs 1-10 with RISP in the series.  Left lots of ducks on the pond.  Could take some of the pressure off the pen.

You could hit your thumb with a hammer.  Or take a big bite of wayyyy too hot pizza.  Just sayin.
