Saturday funnies: fake Cubs commercial

Man.
Getting kinda antsy for some trading to happen as I watch this team of dead men walking (or striking out or whatever).
I know.
Patience, right?
Yeah, we all have a little practice at that.
Oh well, I get a little ranty, I make a cartoon.
Can't wait to make some happy ones in the future.

...at least we don't have to worry about extending our franchise record 1 run loss string today. 5 runs for Shark in 3.1 innings. go #1 draft choice. Sing with me, Go Pad's Go.

jump on the John Gaub DFA train and grab him. Indians, Cubs, Rays, Rangers and now Cards.

j.verlander throws his 3rd 120+ pitch game of the year (127)...131 and 123 the others... he threw 10 last season. he threw 11 in 2010...including 3 back-to-back...and 5 back-to-back.

The I-Cubs won the first game of their DH, 1-0. Brooks Raley pitched the game of his life, in 7 innings with 6 hits, 6K's, no Walks. 1st inning HR by Matt Tolbert was the difference.

Peoria Chiefs ahead 4-0, Kyler Burke pitching thru 4 with 5 K's. 1st inning, 4 spot: Zeke DeVoss walks. Pin-Chieh Chen singles on a bunt ground ball to pitcher Scott Alexander. Zeke DeVoss to 2nd. Anthony Giansanti flies out to center fielder Lane Adams. Paul Hoilman doubles (19) on a fly ball to left fielder Tim Ferguson. Zeke DeVoss scores. Pin-Chieh Chen to 3rd. Wes Darvill grounds out, pitcher Scott Alexander to first baseman Dean Espy. Javier Baez reaches on throwing error by third baseman Michael Antonio. Pin-Chieh Chen scores. Paul Hoilman to 3rd. With Yasiel Balaguert batting, Javier Baez steals (4) 2nd base. Yasiel Balaguert walks. Sergio Burruel singles on a line drive to center fielder Lane Adams. Paul Hoilman scores. Javier Baez scores. Yasiel Balaguert to 2nd. Pitcher Change: Jason Mitchell replaces Scott Alexander. Oliver Zapata grounds out, shortstop Orlando Calixte to first baseman Dean Espy.

I worry that Morel will lose starts at 3B as long as this roster lacks a compelling DH.

I think if you had ranked players by how much the team could ill afford to have them miss significant time, Steele would be right at the top of the list.

steele MRI on friday.  counsell expects an IL stint.

no current plans for his rotation replacement.

I would say also in the bright side column is Busch looked pretty good overall at the plate. Alzolay…man, that hurts but most of the time he’s not giving up a homer to that guy. To me the worst was almonte hanging that pitch to Garcia. He hung another one to the next hitter too and got away with it on an 0-1.

amaya blocked like 6-8 of smyly's pitches in the dirt very cleanly...not even an exaggeration, smyly threw a ton of pitches bouncing in tonight.

neris looking like his old self was a relief (no pun), too.

In looking for bright spots the defense was outstanding tonight. The “stars” are going to need to shine quite a bit brighter than they did tonight offensively though for this to be a successful season.

Good baseball game. Hopefully Steele is pitching again in April (but I’m not counting on it).

    boo.

smyly to face the 2/3/4 hitters with a man on 2nd in extras.

this doesn't seem like a 8 million dollar managerial decision.

i 100% agree with you, but i dunno how jed wants to run things.  the default is delay.  i would choose brown.

like hellfrozeover says, could be smyly since he's technically fresh and stretched.

anyway, on a pure talent basis....brown is the best option.
