The As Have It - Bert's Moving On Up
Double A made his Triple A debut last night in Des Moines and earned, what else, a grade of A.
Adbert Alzolay worked like a young man in a hurry, taking a perfecto into the 5th and a no-no into the 6th. Complementing a lively fastball that touched 96 with a breaker that bites quick as a hungry dog, Prospecto Numero Uno needed only 45 pitches to retire the first dozen hitters he faced. A couple of walks sandwiched a pair of Ks in the 5th before a one-out homer in the 6th relieved I-Cub manager Marty Peavey of any potential ambivalence about having to yank a youngster still twirling a hitless gem.
Alzolay is a quick worker. He's got presence and game face aplenty. Encore!
