Now that Astrogate is resolved can we PLEASE get a ruling on the KB grievance?!? 3 months? Seriously? Who's the indecisive hearing officer, Hank Kimball from Green Acres? Jeez, flip a coin already!

...and now alex cora has been fired...or rather, "mutually parted ways" is the story they're going with.

this was over the top cheating.  houston deserves to lose those draft picks and people deserved to get fired.

the players were at fault, too, but i don't really care if they never pay a price for it aside from fan scorn.

you're far from the only voice asking that one.  i haven't seen an official statement, myself...dunno if there will be one.

The investigation says Astros cheating all through 2017 including the World Series. Then Cora managing Boston for '18. You've read that the deal from MLB with the other teams is "you're not allowed to say anything". God. Not a Dodger fan but that's one royal screwing. Plaschke at LATIMES says, "Seriously, why is it that Commissioner's Trophy still in their Houston offices? Why can't they at least have the decency to give it back? Better yet, the worthless thing should be tossed in a dugout trash can that the Dodgers can bang with a bat."

Q is in midseason form getting blasted in the first! Maybe the Yankees are desperate enough to take him off our hands. Could get us under the tax silliness too.

Unrelatedly, does it weird anyone else out to see SOUZA 21 on a jersey in RF?

Use pitchers when you believe they're good. Don't plan their clock.

I'm sorry. I'm simply anti-clock/contract management. Play guys when they show real MLB potential talent.

If Brown hadn't been hurt with the Lat Strain he would've gotten the call, and not Wick.

    Give him a chance.

    But Wesneski probably gets it

    alzolay...bro...

wow.  what a blown call.  go cubs, i guess.

neris is good for 70-ish appearances and having him throw 89-91mph fastballs was something i was not looking forward to for 70-ish games.

his splitter today was ranging 82-83mph...also a bit faster than spring performances.

    Holy shit this umpire sucks

However, all is forgiven when his suckiness works in favor of the Cubs.

Neris must have been sand-baging spring training. He's a veteran, so he knew what he was doing. Had me fooled to be honest. Glad I was wrong.

  • hellfrozeover (view)

Looks like he might the cliche veteran pitcher in spring not really ramping it up and just “forking on stuff” in spring. If he gets to 94 on the regular he’ll do just fine.

  • crunch (view)

topped out a 94mph, threw 4 of those.  feeling a lot better about neris.

  • crunch (view)

neris has thrown 2 pitches at 93mph out of his first 5 pitches.  that's a positive turn.

I really am not interested in the wesneski head case experience again any time soon. Give me smyly over wesneski. Hell give me keegan Thompson over wesneski every day of the week. His stuff isn’t as good but at least he doesn’t melt down mentally every time something goes mildly awry.
