f.reyes with his 2nd triple with the cubs.

time to bat him leadoff and have him steal some bases.  maybe have him patrol CF.

My daughter and her family live in view of Miller(!!) Park, and I have enjoyed many tailgates at (my opinion) the most drunken ballpark I've been at. (Mixed feelings there).  Still, I want Milwaukee to win the division and get eliminated in the playoffs.

not really feeling girardi in the booth so far.  pre/post-game show or something, maybe, sure...but booth...meh.

it's not terrible, but it's a bit dry for a color guy.  he's like a half-asleep ron coomer.

it is crazy how many younger people got into baseball during the pandemic.

i am seeing a whole lot of late teens and 20-somethings at games all over the country.  there's a whole lot at today's game in all parts of the park.

baseball cementing new fans from casual to dedicated.  nice.

ow...wisdom jams his fingers into the ground and sandpapers them across the dirt on a slide home.  he's hurt...hopefully nothing broken.

fun game.  cubs tie in the bottom 9th, 10th, and 11th.

contreras wins it with a walk-off single in the 11th.

only his 2nd career walk-off hit.

this was an extremely fun game.  5th win in a row.

Rob Zastryzny called up by Mets, once upon a time he was a Cub. Gotta love all the y'all and z's.

wisdom out for a while, getting xrays on left hand (fingers)

also, k.thompson to the 15d IL (lower back tightness).  a.espinoza up.

it's starting to look highly likely that only 1 cubs starter has a shot at 150ip this year (j.steele).

can't blame SP injuries for the 2022 cubs woes, but it didn't help.

steele has 41.2ip more innings to reach 150ip and 8-9 more starts to do it.  that's not a sure thing.

pujols pinch hit single today.  absolutely on fire since the all-star break.

22 for 49 with an ob% just under .500...7 homers, 3 doubles.

8 homers away from 700 career.

I think if you had ranked players by how much the team could ill afford to have them miss significant time, Steele would be right at the top of the list.

steele MRI on friday.  counsell expects an IL stint.

no current plans for his rotation replacement.

I would say also in the bright side column is Busch looked pretty good overall at the plate. Alzolay…man, that hurts but most of the time he’s not giving up a homer to that guy. To me the worst was almonte hanging that pitch to Garcia. He hung another one to the next hitter too and got away with it on an 0-1.

amaya blocked like 6-8 of smyly's pitches in the dirt very cleanly...not even an exaggeration, smyly threw a ton of pitches bouncing in tonight.

neris looking like his old self was a relief (no pun), too.

In looking for bright spots the defense was outstanding tonight. The “stars” are going to need to shine quite a bit brighter than they did tonight offensively though for this to be a successful season.

Good baseball game. Hopefully Steele is pitching again in April (but I’m not counting on it).

    boo.

smyly to face the 2/3/4 hitters with a man on 2nd in extras.

this doesn't seem like a 8 million dollar managerial decision.

i 100% agree with you, but i dunno how jed wants to run things.  the default is delay.  i would choose brown.

like hellfrozeover says, could be smyly since he's technically fresh and stretched.

anyway, on a pure talent basis....brown is the best option.

Use pitchers when you believe they're good. Don't plan their clock.

I'm sorry. I'm simply anti-clock/contract management. Play guys when they show real MLB potential talent.

If Brown hadn't been hurt with the Lat Strain he would've gotten the call, and not Wick.

    Give him a chance.

    But Wesneski probably gets it
