Hi Ernie
I don't really have an Ernie Banks baseball story, I just had free time to paint.
And I was thinking about the name "Ernie".
For the life of me, I can't think of a single Ernie that I knew personally growing up.
Years ago, my buddy David Oif was going down those big escalators at Water Tower, and coming up is Ernie Banks.
Hall Of Famer, the Most Famous Cub.
Oif said, "Hey Ernie!"
Ernie said "hey" back.
Later Oif told me that he felt like he was twelve when he said, "Hey Ernie!"
Like he was Beaver Cleaver.
Pretend Ernie is standing over there and say it out loud right now.
Weird, huh?
Well, I sure hope Ernie keeps hanging around to see what we're suddenly allowed to hope for again.
Not saying next year is it, but it's been forever since we were even able to say, "well, you never know..."
Of course you remember Ernie's "The Cubs will shine in '69" thing.
Wonder what he'll rhyme with "fifteen"?
