How about Patterson and 2 top minor leaguers for Wagner and Lofton from Philly???

If the Cubs trade Patterson, don't get real value in return and then promote Pie in his place, man, I'm going to be so pissed off.

433- Thanks for the info... Patterson for a proven hitter in the NL, well that limits things a lot. It would HAVE to be a CF, so who could it be??? Andruw Jones????

IENPW- With Clemens going tomorrow vs. Mitre, I think winning 2 of 3 would be acceptable.

Just heard 2 interesting pieces of news from the usually reliable Bruce Levine on ESPN 1000: (1) The Cubs and Orioles are negotiating for a player to be added to the Sosa deal in light of Crouthers' retirement. The player will reportedly be of a caliber comparable to what Crouthers was expected to be. Apparently the Cubs and Orioles have been negotiating this for a month. (2) The Cubs are in "serious discussions" with another NL team for a trade involving Patterson for a "proven hitter." Levine promised to name names tomorrow.

well said JH. phil rogers...ken rosenthall...both were good baseball writers who were big men at their respective media outlets until they let it all go to their heads and it effected the real work that made them top dogs to begin with.

Looking deeper into it, if teh Cubs get "a big OF", then who is expendable? Either Dubois would be part of the trade or he could be sent down to make room for the new OF. Or Macias could be cut (can we only hope) and then have Dubois and Holly as our backups in OF. Could make for a mess with Dubois on teh big league club after teh trade.

The Astros are what, 2-19 on the road? God, the Cubs had better sweep....

My amateur opinion is that Phil Rogers is a muppet. Wood for Gagne just isn't going to happen, the first reason being it wouldn't be a good trade for the Cubs.

http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/scoreboard -check out the "preview" section of the game...usually has the lineups early http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/scoreboard -when lineups are ready, "boxscore" link becomes active ...these 2 sites tend to battle for the early lineup report, sportsline usually gets it first.
