Wesneski is not a reliever, he’s proven it over and over.

Agree it does make sense for Kyle to rejoin the rotation as he’s more stretched out than Wesneski at this point - and helps he wasn’t blown up today.

Hendricks went 4+ scoreless today. Another option is he slides into Wicks spot. I wasn't able to watch that part of the game. Did Hendricks look as good as the stat line?

Welp, it’s not a one run loss today.

  • crunch 2 days 15 hours ago (view)

    welp.

Now 5 home runs allowed in his last nine appearances. With Brown and Wicks down, wouldn’t be surprised if he’s back in the rotation.

yeah, i'm kinda pissed i rushed my afternoon to get home and watch this.

i come home to hendricks pitching and i'm "wtf"...then notice he was on pitch 50-something in the 6th and i'm "wtf"...then i see wicks injured his oblique and i'm "wtf"...then the 8th inning showed up and i'm "oh yeah, i've seen this show before.  it sucks."

Wrap up some Friday afternoon Zooms and pull up the Cubs game on my computer.  Why I am not surprised to see Cubs losing a one run ball game and only allowing one run.  Maybe they'll have a hot streak like last summer to spice things up but man is this team tough to follow currently.

    No need at all, LOL!

It’s all just PR these days. Everything managers and front offices say, they probably have scriptwriters on staff and people who drill talking points into their heads. I take every word out of the front office, ownership, and even manager with a large grain of salt.

Do I need to rant back at you or can you just assume what I’m going to say at this point?

    new plan...

cubs free up money to create a germ warfare bio-lab.  release germ.  during pandemic, schedule all games as double-headers.  play only 7 innings.

this is now a playoff team.

Runs just seem to find him as a reliever

Obligatory late inning home run allowed to a righty by Wesneski - No bueno

Make no mistake, this game falls on the Cubs position players suckitude at the plate

I never used the word “visibly”. Getting pissed is not synonymous with unprofessional behavior.

Funny, that the players didn’t play for Durocher because during the 1945 to 1984 drought the best teams by record the Cubs had were under Durocher, hands down.

I’m not sure whether your statement is true or not but if players “don’t play well” intentionally under tough leadership and a little criticism would you want them on your team? That statement is a microcosm of the fragile, pampered free agents I’m always ranting about.

    oblique   :(

also, a ben brown neck injury shouldn't be taken lightly because he's at least 20% neck.

  • Cubster 2 days 16 hours ago (view)

Ben Brown diagnosed with a stress reaction in his neck. In his he days of Fergie, it was called a “crick”

    File under: Giraffe

Did anyone say on the broadcast what symptoms got Wicks pulled? Forearm again or something new?

  • crunch 2 days 16 hours ago (view)

if getting visibly mad as hell because you're not doing well was a plus we'd be talking about whether milton bradley and john rocker were 1st or 2nd ballot hall of famers.

also, leo durocher was an asshole and if it wasn't for ownership liking him he probably wouldn't have stuck around with the cubs long enough to be in the cubs team HOF.  his players hated him and they didn't play well just to spite him.

Hendricks second time through the order…

  • TarzanJoeWallis 2 days 17 hours ago (view)

    1. Overall, starting pitching has generally been pretty good (except Hendricks)
    2. The young pitchers have generally shown promise.
    3. Ummm…Busch has shown moments of promise? Happ’s defense in left has been generally solid? PCA has largely been a defensive center field stud as advertised?

That was a hard mental exercise!
