.257/.305/.476, 11 HR, 29 RBI, 6 steals - Rookie 1B Mark Trumbo for the Angels...seems to be filling in decently?

A's fire Bob Geren after 9-game losing streak, replaced by Bob Melvin. May the winds of change reach Chicago...

Kendrys Morales should be back next year so I doubt it, but who can tell right now.

Yep, thanks for the timely and in depth info, AZ Phil and co.

What's going on with the Angels' first basemen... was talking to a guy last night and we couldn't figue out if they would be in on Pujols/Fielder or not during the offseason.

He was 25 at the time.

Personal trainers are a scam. I read somewhere that he's actually below 250 now, so that's a good sign.

well in marginally good news, Fukudome having a good June so far, maybe he'll be tradeable. Hopefully Hendry is working the phones starting today to move Pena the first day he can which would be June 16th (well technically earlier if Pena agrees to it). Giants, Rays, Indians, Angels, Mariners, Yankees, Dodgers seem to be the teams with holes at DH/1B and somewhat in the race.

they've been 5th for awhile, there's enough legit stuff out there to nail the Cubs on, no reason for your constant tweaking of facts (5/50 offer to Z, etc) nonetheless, Ricketts was only on the job for one of those years and the Cubs were 20th last year while picking 16th and no extra picks and it would be far more fair to compare international bonus signings as well before jumping to conclusions. Also, as judging by the Cubs the last 3 years, spending money doesn't always equal quality. that all being said, judging by whom they drafted and the press quotes, they need to put their money where there mouth is this year.

Yep..I saw Albert play there.....he hit the crap out of the ball...we all wondered what he was doing in Lo-A ball...

Did not know this bit of trivia: Albert Pujols played for the Peoria Chiefs (2000). I would surmise they were not a Cubs affiliate then - heh

According to Forbes they are 5th You do know that 5 is not in the top 3, right?

    Ditto. Ditto. DITTO!

We have discussed this ad nauseum, but the odds are long for anyone under a first-round pick to make an MLB roster. Its not like the NFL. And, with the Cubs as we have seen - even 1st round picks guarantees nothing. Just not worth getting worked up about yet. REMEMBER: Pujols 402nd overall pick. 'Nuff said.

As someone who has gained 15lbs. I can't seem to lose (albeit, at 50+), he is young enough and would hopefully be supported by all of the state-of-the-art training/nutrition opportunities available these days to keep things under control. Didn't work for Reggie Golden, but maybe this guy? Shit - I wish I could afford a personal trainer, chef, and nutritionist! I could maybe lose 5lbs!

For anyone who might be interested, four Cub draft picks are on teams playing in the NCAA Super Regionals this weekend (all games are on ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU): Rafael Lopez, C (Florida State - 16th round pick) John Andreoli, OF (Connecticut - 17th round pick Andrew McKirahan, LHRP (Texas - 21st round pick) Taiwan Easterling, OF (Florida State - 27th round pick)

The article says "In Wilken's five years with the Cubs, they have ranked 24th among Major League teams in bonus spending on the amateur side." Which would imply that it includes LAM and Asia (as well as Europe), but not the Samardizja and Szczur bonuses. Or it could just be shoddy writing and it just includes the draft.

Thanks especially to AZ Phil but also to everyone else who had anything to do with the great draft coverage we received this year.

Thoroughly stupid article by a guy who comes across, at least on TV, as none too sharp. I wonder if MLB intentionally looks for guys who aren't very bright to avoid them saying controversial things... they do have Reynolds though.

According to Forbes they are 5th. But within 20 million dollars of being 2nd place where Boston is. Bottom line, is when the owner starts with the "Build from within" company line. That owner should invest the money to actually "Build from within". http://www.bizofbaseball.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&…
