Jesus Feliciano is the new hitting & outfield coach at Boise (replacing Bill Buckner, who retired prior to the start of Minor League Camp). Feliciano was a minor league OF for many seasons and with a number of different organizations (was a player-coach in the Mexican League last season).
Brian Lawrence (ex MLB RHP with SD and NYM) is the new pitching coach at Boise (was previously a minor league pitching coach with SD).
RAISIN: As far as I know, Frandy de la Rosa is presently back at the Cubs Dominican Academy. There may be some legal issues pending related to the off-seson car crash and/or the Cubs want him to play in the DSL this season.
HAGSAG: Kyuji Fujikawa and Brad Renner were scheduled to throw a "live" one-inning BP session prior to Saturday's game, but only Renner threw (25 pitches). Fujikawa warmed up in the outfield (long-toss), but then he returned to the clubhouse without throwing off the mound.
HAGSAG: As things stand right now, it would appear that both Eloy Jimenez and Gleyber Torres will remain in Mesa with the AZL Cubs. BTW, you may have noticed that Jimenez is used only as a DH in EXST games, and that's because he has some kind of right arm problem that affects his throwing but not his hitting.
