Peralta Just Can't Stop Hitting Doubles in Mesa

SP Yenrri Rojas hurled three innings of perfect baseball, David Peralta doubled twice, stole a base, and drove-in a run, and Anderson Suriel drilled a game-tying RBI double with one out in the top of the 9th for the Cubs, and SP Luis Morales tossed three innings of one-run ball with five strikeouts and Reynaldo de la Paz (game-tying RBI single in the 7th) and Clark Elliott (RBI double in the 8th) stroked run-scoring hits late in the game for the Athletics, as the Cubs and A's played to a 2-2 tie in Cactus League Extended Spring Training game action Tuesday afternoon on Field # 4 at the Lew Wolff Training Complex at Fitch Park in Mesa, AZ.

Peralta played LF for seven innings and batted five times before leaving the game. It would appear he is very close to completing his rehab (October 2023 flexor tendon surgery). He also has an automatic Article XX-B opt-out on May 1st if he has not been selected to the MLB 40-man roster by that date.

Here is the abridged box score from the game (Cubs players only):

AZ Phil,

Is there a schedule for these EXT ST games ?
And don't they all start at 10am or Noon? You've said that in the past here but I cannot recall.
I apologize.
Thanks

The start times are moved around, sometimes at the last minute. The Giants - A's game was canceled at the last.minute on Monday, and yesterday's Giants - Rockies game was moved from afternoon to morning with only an hour's notice. There were also games moved from night to morning on the west side. Or the game location might be switched from a home game to a road game, or vice versa. So you have to be mobile and be willing and able to block out a full day and potentially wait around just to find out that the game time has been changed or that the game has been canceled. Or be ready to go on the road when you expected the game at home. There are also a number of Camp Days where there is no game scheduled against another organization, but there might be an intrasquad game, or they might decide at the last minute to play a game against another organization. Or not. You just have to be flexible and go with the flow.

Folks, I've known Richard Lovelady since he was an 18 yr old Freshman at East Ga State College in Swainsboro, Ga.

I was the WBB Coach at EGSC and Richard was their prize recruit from outside of Hinesville, Ga.

My roommate was the Pitching Coach there.

Richard showed up a skinny, loose lipped, 83mph Lefty. Pretty good basketball player actually.

My roommate became the head coach.

Richard came back from a minor injury for his Sophmore year a more serious man. He hit 90mph and started mowing GA JUCO hitters down. It was really fun to watch.

He was the first D1 signee for EGSC baseball (school had only had athletics for five yrs at that point). He went to Kennesaw St and became their closer. One yr later, he hit 100mph and KC drafted him in the 10th Rd.

He lost the high velo with a surgery a while back.

It's so cool to see him in MLB. And now he's a Cub!! It's crazy to realize I actually "know" a Cub.

    He's a legit good guy.

    Easy to root for!!!

Tim. Thanks for remembering Lee Elia Day. It will always be one of the most epic rants in all sports.  It took about 3 seconds to recognize him from your picture but I  did get it right.

Now that Les Grobstein is no longer with us, that might contribute to this grand piece of Cubbery fading.

Just like fine wine, it should be savored...unedited. 40 years, wow.

Does he have any options left, Phil?
