12/17 UPDATE:The Cubs have signed free-agent RHP Mark Leiter Jr, INF Dixon Machado, and INF Ildemaro Vargas to 2022 minor league contracts.

Should they be added to the MLB 40-man roster at some point during the 2022 season, Machado and Vargas are out of minor league options, and Leiter, Machado, and Vargas have the right to elect free-agency if outrighted. 

They also will be eligible for selection in the Major League Phase of the 2021 MLB Rule 5 Draft, whenever it takes place.

Not certain of the future of this site. I'm still willing to host and maintain it. I made changes to the code so that the tables are more mobile friendly. I'm able to migrate the site to the latest version of Drupal and that will allow easier editing and content creation. I would like to do the upgrade, but I need feedback on the domain status and desired enhancements.

Hope I hear from someone soon.

I have done much in an attempt to speed the site up. Most of the changes were server related. I still have a hardware issue that I hope to have running before I leave for the three games in Pittsburg tomorrow. Please let me know if you are having problems.

I want to apologize for any problems anyone has experienced with the site. I am not able to monitor the site as much as I'd like. I noticed some comments posted yesterday about problems. Please use the site's contact form to let me know whenever you experience any issues with the site or if there is something you'd like modified or implemented.

    Folks, I've known Richard Lovelady since he was an 18 yr old Freshman at East Ga State College in Swainsboro, Ga.

    I was the WBB Coach at EGSC and Richard was their prize recruit from outside of Hinesville, Ga.

    My roommate was the Pitching Coach there.

    Richard showed up a skinny, loose lipped, 83mph Lefty. Pretty good basketball player actually. 

    My roommate became the head coach.

    Richard came back from a minor injury for his Sophmore year a more serious man. He hit 90mph and started mowing GA JUCO hitters down. It was really fun to watch.

    He was the first D1 signee for EGSC baseball (school had only had athletics for five yrs at that point). He went to Kennesaw St and became their closer. One yr later, he hit 100mph and KC drafted him in the 10th Rd. 

    He lost the high velo with a surgery a while back.

    It's so cool to see him in MLB. And now he's a Cub!! It's crazy to realize I actually "know" a Cub.

    He's a legit good guy.

    Easy to root for!!!

    Tim. Thanks for remembering Lee Elia Day. It will always be one of the most epic rants in all sports.  It took about 3 seconds to recognize him from your picture but I  did get it right. 

    Now that Les Grobstein is no longer with us, that might contribute to this grand piece of Cubbery fading.

    Just like fine wine, it should be savored...unedited. 40 years, wow.
