Red Sox averaging 5.7 runs per game at home this year...

Currently being shut out by James (24.62 ERA in his last 4 games) Shields through the first 3 innings because...baseball.

Gonna be some angry DFS owners if they stacked the Red Sox lineup today (if it lasts).

"Tommy Birch ‏@TommyBirch Hearing that Iowa native Tyler Peyton is supposed to be in Arizona this week to undergo a physical. If all goes well, will sign with #Cubs." 29th round pick.

Willson batting cleanup and playing first base tonight. Has played catcher all season so far.

Joe Nathan has been sent to Tenn. on a rehab assignment. Ian Happ has been promoted to Tenn.

Just brainstorming: 1) If Cubs are going to play a catcher at 1B, why not just gear him up and call it second home plate and see if they can trick Lester into throwing there every now and again. 2) Between Lester on the mound, and a catcher at 1B, bunting might be lucrative for the Marlins. 3) Barry Bonds looks deflated. I mean physically.

1- brilliant 2- if miami was a team with decent runners i'd be more scared...or if they get guys on 1st and 2nd with less than 2 outs 3- yes...he could use a roid re-up wow...miami's running game is even weaker than i thought. stolen bases is a lazy way to gauge running quality, but tonight's lineup has 7 SBs on the year and it's only 2 guys. they have 19 total SB and 6 of those are d.gordon...and 6 are ichiro. only 4 guys on the roster all season have successfully stolen a base and 1 is suspended.

David Fuckin Ross!!!

That Baez almost-out defensive play was bonkers.

Guys, I've decided to focus on the first awesome two and a half months instead of this disastrous end to the season. Remember Arrieta's no-no, Contreras's first-ever-pitch HR, all the amazing defensive gems by Baez? We'll get 'em next year!

Yeesh. Shut down innings a thing of the past for the Cubbies Not the best of nights for Russell - should of nailed Stanton at second on Ross's throw but mishandles it ... so of course Stanton comes around and scores as well

DRAMA!

poop. 4 losses in a row for the 1st time this season.

9 runs in 4 games. Zobrist slumping. Russell having a tough time. Almora not a contact guy. They miss Fowler big time. Bring the A-Team back.

Joe: "I loved the way we brought it today, man. We'll take this every night and win a lot of ballgames like that. Losing 4 in a row...that's nothin'."

The Cubs are currently down Schwarber, Fowler, Soler, and Rizzo and Montero appear to be day-to-day. Maybe not surprising that they are struggling a bit as they rely more than expected on Baez, Russell, Almora, Contreras, and Szczur to provide offensive value.

Folks, I've known Richard Lovelady since he was an 18 yr old Freshman at East Ga State College in Swainsboro, Ga.

I was the WBB Coach at EGSC and Richard was their prize recruit from outside of Hinesville, Ga.

My roommate was the Pitching Coach there.

Richard showed up a skinny, loose lipped, 83mph Lefty. Pretty good basketball player actually.

My roommate became the head coach.

Richard came back from a minor injury for his Sophmore year a more serious man. He hit 90mph and started mowing GA JUCO hitters down. It was really fun to watch.

He was the first D1 signee for EGSC baseball (school had only had athletics for five yrs at that point). He went to Kennesaw St and became their closer. One yr later, he hit 100mph and KC drafted him in the 10th Rd.

He lost the high velo with a surgery a while back.

It's so cool to see him in MLB. And now he's a Cub!! It's crazy to realize I actually "know" a Cub.

    He's a legit good guy.

    Easy to root for!!!

Tim. Thanks for remembering Lee Elia Day. It will always be one of the most epic rants in all sports.  It took about 3 seconds to recognize him from your picture but I  did get it right.

Now that Les Grobstein is no longer with us, that might contribute to this grand piece of Cubbery fading.

Just like fine wine, it should be savored...unedited. 40 years, wow.

Does he have any options left, Phil?
