I was looking for the D'backs playoff roster and found this interesting story: http://www.azcentral.com/sports/diamondbacks/articles/1002mr-cubs1003-C… They are going to have a free viewing party tonight and tomorrow at Hohokam Park to show the game on the new 30-foot scoreboard there. No alcohol allowed...but I bet that sure would be a fun time. I also found out some interesting trivia: What are the two currently-active Diamondbacks that have the most career hits against Zambrano? (the two players are tied)

Of 20 "experts" at ESPN, 16 picked the Cubs to beat the D'backs. Only Jayson Stark picked them to go all the way. Of 10 "experts" at CNN.SI, 5 picked the Cubs to beat the D'backs. I did not see them picking beyond the 1st round.

The only prediction I'll make is that if the Cubs do have an edge, it's because of three names that roll trippingly off the tongue: Hill, Lilly and Lou. A guy who scares me is Juan Cruz. Now there's a different kind of ex-Cub factor.

Cubs fans are notoriously pessimistic. Also, if the excercise was to predict correctly who would win each series perhaps you might want to pick against the cubs as they have not won in 99 years it's a good bet that they won't again. Vegas is doing that.

I think the Cubs are clearly better than the Diamondbacks, but I'm worried about Carlos vs. Webb tonight and I'm very worried about having to beat a lefty (Davis) tomorrow night. from the Jayson Stark article... If it means anything, three of the previous four nonstrike-year playoff teams to have a negative run differential got swept in the first round. The fourth (the '87 Twins) did win the World Series -- but did it behind two dominating starters (Frank Viola and Bert Blyleven). We can't find a Bert Blyleven on this team. How about you?

Thanks Carlos, I DID get it though. Most doctors do not recommend douching (perhaps our expert can shed some light on the issue) because it can lead to bacterial vaginosis. they're in separate leagues, there's little conflict of interest. Although she's so use to going to the playoffs now and stuff it's really annoying to be honest. No harm no foul except when we play each other. World Series could be interesting. She still needs to payup on a bet when the Cubs took 2 of 3 a couple years back in Anaheim. And she looks hot in a baseball jersey so what's there to complain about?

nah, she could care less about baseball until 2002 other than accompanying me to Cubs games. The Angels run that year and me landing Game 7 tickets pushed her over the edge. But we got kids and all, they could use a home team to root for that's not the Dodgers. They'll be Cubs fan at heart though.

No way the Cubs lose the first round. Everyone knows that to follow up on their last disaster movie, the sequel has to be even more spectacularly gory. So the Cubs actually make it to the World Series, win the first three games and then blowing a ninth-inning two-out lead in game 4, 5, AND 6. Take a huge lead in Game 7 only to have their opponents chip away bit by bit, tie, and then oh, Dempster blows it in the 12th. AND THERE'S PANDAMONIUM IN THE STREETS OF CLEVELAND.

I became a fan in 2002? Shame on you Rob! I distinctly remember taking you to a game back in 99 when we were only dating, Pre-Scioscia era and the red/white uniforms. Good luck with me paying up on that bet now too...lucky you said I looked good in a jersey. Speaking of jerseys, how good are you feeling about the one you are currently sporting, which number is it? #22? Too bad. Ignore Rob, he's just bitter the Angels won the Series and we go to the playoffs every year while the Cubs have to wait every 5 to 99 years for anything good to happen. Good luck fellas. Even though I am a TRUE Angels fan, I'm still rooting for ya. Unless that is we meet up for the final series. Than all bets are off. Our twins will have a well rounded upbringing. Rooting for the cubs will teach them loyalty, discipline, and sacrifice, and rooting for the Angels will keep them from...well getting their little hearts broken. We will save that for another 16yrs at least.

I swear to God. I don't know what it is with you guys. I have a problem with Jessica as her posts are annoying and know it all.     Folks, I've known Richard Lovelady since he was an 18 yr old Freshman at East Ga State College in Swainsboro, Ga.

    I was the WBB Coach at EGSC and Richard was their prize recruit from outside of Hinesville, Ga.

    My roommate was the Pitching Coach there.

    Richard showed up a skinny, loose lipped, 83mph Lefty. Pretty good basketball player actually. 

    My roommate became the head coach.

    Richard came back from a minor injury for his Sophmore year a more serious man. He hit 90mph and started mowing GA JUCO hitters down. It was really fun to watch.

    He was the first D1 signee for EGSC baseball (school had only had athletics for five yrs at that point). He went to Kennesaw St and became their closer. One yr later, he hit 100mph and KC drafted him in the 10th Rd. 

    He lost the high velo with a surgery a while back.

    It's so cool to see him in MLB. And now he's a Cub!! It's crazy to realize I actually "know" a Cub.

    He's a legit good guy.

    Easy to root for!!!

    Tim. Thanks for remembering Lee Elia Day. It will always be one of the most epic rants in all sports.  It took about 3 seconds to recognize him from your picture but I  did get it right. 

    Now that Les Grobstein is no longer with us, that might contribute to this grand piece of Cubbery fading.

    Richard Lovelady one walk & 20 K, 22 hits but no HR, high ERA, and two-to-one GB to FB in 12.1 IP, so I would guess that's why he got the call. Sort of the exact opposite of Luke Little.

    Definitely surprised about Dick Lovelady. He has a phenomenal name but that’s probably the best thing he’s got. I was kinda hoping for Wieck even though he’s apparently still tossing 86 as his heater

    Wouldn’t be shocked seeing another 40 man spot open with Brewer losing his spot.
