Thurs Funnies: It's easy to screw up against this Cubs lineup.

Well, it didn't eXACTly play out like this - Andrew Heaney got a nose bleed earlier in the game.
But you get what I mean.
The Cubs' lineup is just one big monster and if you screw up, it'll only get bigger.

Tonight we'll get to see John Lackey as a Cub for the first time.
For some reason, I feel like he's going to fit in just fine and not have any year one jitters.
Lets see what happens in Phoenix, shall we?

not to quibble over a very subjective list...but quibble I shall

  3. Correa (I can see that)
  4. Machado (still with you)
  5. G. Cole (umm?)
  6. J. Fernandez (the reasoning putting him behind Cole makes some sense)
  7. N. Arenado (wait...)
  8. C. Seager (I suppose)
  9. M. Betts (fine)
  10. B. Buxton (I guess, not a promising start though)
  11. L. Giolito (hold on now)
  12. K. Bryant (okay, wtf?)

Alright, I'm being a homer but don't see how Bryant is behind Arenado in any way. 2 years younger, better numbers without playing in Coors. Arenado has the better glove, but that better glove was still worth 2 less in WAR last year per fangraphs.

    Richard Lovelady one walk & 20 K, 22 hits but no HR, high ERA, and two-to-one GB to FB in 12.1 IP, so I would guess that's why he got the call. Sort of the exact opposite of Luke Little.

    Definitely surprised about Dick Lovelady. He has a phenomenal name but that’s probably the best thing he’s got. I was kinda hoping for Wieck even though he’s apparently still tossing 86 as his heater

    wicks 15d DL...cubs select...get ready for this one...richard f'n lovelady.  lovelady's stregnths include being able to throw a ball left handed and that's about it.

    Open 40 man spot might see the return of CJ. He’s been okay in Iowa. Teheran has been rocked in his starts this year. SSS of course.

    Wouldn’t be shocked seeing another 40 man spot open with Brewer losing his spot.

    On top of all that…Wicks scratched for Sunday due to “forearm soreness.” Bullpen day again starting with Mervis or Wisdom (or Wesn).

    "Morel told reporters after the game that he felt alright, just a little banged up — specifically noting his right hip and both elbows. He did say that he was optimistic about his ability to play on Sunday, though manager Craig Counsell may have other plans."
