pujols goes 1st to home on a triple.

pujols having to work for that last paycheck.  molina got a huge kick out of it.

Game start tonight moved up an hour because of rain prediction. My weather app says > 60% chance even with the early change. I hope they have Tom Skilling advising (and not his brother).

Cubs send Jesse Chavez to Braves for lefty Sean Newcomb. It's a fixer up project but hey they needed a lefty in the pen. Newcomb has always had upside because he throws hard and is 10 yrs younger so maybe he can benefit from a change of scenery.

doubt k.thompson will pitch tonight, but if m.leiter doesn't have thompson in his rear view mirror i dunno what to say.

even if he doesn't do well tonight i imagine leiter will get a 3rd start unless it's as terrible as his 1st.

leiter had a great spring, but well, that was spring.  thompson also had a great spring.

It could conceivably be Keegan, but I feel like it's more likely if length is needed, Rucker or Effross will be getting a chance.

It's complicated by the fact that St. John is the only viable MLB pitcher in Iowa on the 40 man, and he threw like 30 pitches last night.

DJL: Locke St. John was optioned to AAA Iowa last Saturday immedaitely after his contract was selected, so he can't be recalled for ten days (until next Tuesday) unless he is replacing a player on the MLB Active List who was placed on an MLB inactive list (IL, Paternity, etc).

Folks, I've known Richard Lovelady since he was an 18 yr old Freshman at East Ga State College in Swainsboro, Ga.

I was the WBB Coach at EGSC and Richard was their prize recruit from outside of Hinesville, Ga.

My roommate was the Pitching Coach there.

Richard showed up a skinny, loose lipped, 83mph Lefty. Pretty good basketball player actually.

My roommate became the head coach.

Richard came back from a minor injury for his Sophmore year a more serious man. He hit 90mph and started mowing GA JUCO hitters down. It was really fun to watch.

He was the first D1 signee for EGSC baseball (school had only had athletics for five yrs at that point). He went to Kennesaw St and became their closer. One yr later, he hit 100mph and KC drafted him in the 10th Rd.

He lost the high velo with a surgery a while back.

It's so cool to see him in MLB. And now he's a Cub!! It's crazy to realize I actually "know" a Cub.

    He's a legit good guy.

    Easy to root for!!!

Tim. Thanks for remembering Lee Elia Day. It will always be one of the most epic rants in all sports.  It took about 3 seconds to recognize him from your picture but I  did get it right.

Now that Les Grobstein is no longer with us, that might contribute to this grand piece of Cubbery fading.

Just like fine wine, it should be savored...unedited. 40 years, wow.

Does he have any options left, Phil?
