hosmer not in the lineup vs the jesus lizard, lefty...good.  bellinger back, velaz DH'ing.

torrens DFA'd.  e.rios lives another day to not work for a living.  he probably gets the gatorade powder mix to water ratio just right so they keep him around on the bench.

yeah...velaz aint going anywhere any time soon.  start making plans to break your lease in may/june e.rios...

we are going to be so spoiled with middle IF defense over the next 4 seasons...pending injury...

crazy watching these guys make it look so easy you can almost take it for granted that even difficult plays will be made.

what a terrible night for rucker to be terrible.  tie game, bottom 9th, single, hbp, hbp...hasn't hit a batter in 2 seasons and he gets a couple back to back.

I fear Rucker suffers from Justin Grimm syndrome.

Excellent in low leverage spots. Great in medium leverage spots. Down 1-2 late? Cool. Up 1 in the 6th? Great. Tied in 7th but 7 8 9 coming up? He’s your guy. All this make the stats look really really good. But game on the line late? Can’t handle it.

b.hughes 15d (left knee inflamation)...kilian up and starting saturday.  also, taillion threw a pen session today.

okay, about done with kilian.  wild pitches, multiple pitch clock violations, multiple HBP, can't throw anything but his fastball for a strike...hits...runs...yeah.  1st inning still.

d.ross burns 3 players in a single AB...for an e.rios matchup.  let's see how this one works...  it's his first action since april 22nd.

uggg.  this is one of those games that hurt.  start from many runs back in the 1st, so close to getting tied over various innings, slowly chipping away at the lead, still fell short.

Well, game 29 on the year was a hell of a game. That felt like a throwback, too. I had a feeling Morel had a shot at catching up to that fastball.

    Phil,

Any thoughts/details on Carico and/or JP Wheat?

    MIL loses!

cubs finally get to sole control of 1st place in the central.

MIL out here stealing 3rd with 1 out and down by 1 in the bottom 9th.

it worked.  this MIL team is annoyingly fun to watch so far this year...

  • crunch (view)

it took him 24 pitches, 2 walks, 2 Ks...but he got it done.  woo.

    Full pack!

neris still doesn't have his command/control...

i don't expect it to dog him all season, much like i don't expect alzolay to be a HR machine.

i'll take alzolay over neris to close out a game, though...over leiter, too.

MOREL HR!  his first homer in like, 3 years or something...or feels like it.

top of the 9th, 2 run shot off f'n diaz to break the tie.

swanson breaks it up in the 8th with a single.

1h and 6 minutes to get through 6 innings.

also, the cubs are getting no-hit.  neat.
